Summary

One grumpy boy...

Ethan's Valentine's Day isn't going well. He's been talked into attending a pretentious premier gala with his ex-boyfriend at movie mogul Charles Weston’s posh Beverly Hills mansion. Ethan’s plan is to hit up the free bar for all the gin they'll give him, then slink home, alone. Instead, he gets lost in the host's mansion, runs into a handsome stranger, and suddenly, his night takes a sharp turn for the better.

Plus one lonely man...

Charlie has everything he could ever want, except someone to love, and he's just about given up trying to find him. Then, at his party, he stumbles upon a young man gawking at his Cezanne and cursing his name. Charlie is amused, then charmed, then turned on by Ethan, who can't shut up and has the biggest blue eyes Charlie has ever seen.

Equals the most memorable Valentine’s Day, ever!

Both know that falling into bed with a stranger is a terrible idea, but it might turn out to best mistake either has ever made.

Be My Mistake is a prequel of sorts to Damage Control, but can be listened to on its own. It’s a scorching hot Valentine’s Day novella with a mouthy twink, the best daddy ever, a lot of John Hughes references, a ridiculous mansion which may or may not contain a twink pit, and, of course, a HEA.

sassy and hot

This short was a lot of fun, a lighter counterpart to the rest of the series but stil great. Lots of sass and snark that pulled you right in. It was a great full story for the length and I enjoyed both of the MCs they were a great match. The narrator is fantastic

5 Stars!

This was my first Lynn Van Dorn book, I have read her collabs with Piper Scott and loved them and this was just about as good as the Forbidden Desires series.

Ethan and Charlie were just perfect for each other, each of them giving the other one something they've been missing in their lives and each wanting more, without realizing the other wanted the same.

It was such a fun, hot, sweet and fast-paced audiobook. Michael Ferraiuolo is amazing and his performance and voices for Ethan and Charlie were spot on. I can't wait to have some free time to listen to Damage Control and Daddy Issues, which I already have waiting for me on my audible. Super recommendable!

Sassy, Fantastic snark

This was a sweet, sexy, and steamy novella and I one-clicked this so fast I don’t think the cover art finished loading. Michael Ferraiuolo and Lynn Van Dorn are a fantastic combination! Michael did an amazing job bringing Charlie and Ethan to life for me. With Valentine’s Day just coming up, this was perfect timing! As a prequel to Daddy Issues, we get a bit of extra insight. Ethan had such a sass about him, I loved it. And Charlie. Hot damn the commandingness of him just totally did it for me. They were super hot and sweet and I loved it!

A nice addition to a great series

I’m in love with Lynn Van Dorn’s North Shore Stories series and after gorging on the two big books, I was intrigued by this novella. I hadn’t given Ethan much thought in the previous books, only noting that being Tyler’s boyfriend would be tough, given his issues (including nightmares and cutting). I also vaguely remember they were both bottoms so I’d wondered how that might work.

When I realized Ethan was going to be in this novella, I was intrigued. The synopsis sounded interesting, and I’m always game for something new, so I dove in. I have to say I enjoyed the story. Ethan was adorable and Charlie was interesting. The concept of a twink pit was amusing as were the antics of the two men. I do want to say that I was uncomfortable with the men having sex while Ethan was clearly intoxicated, but that’s my prim and proper self stepping up. Consent was never an issue, although in my consent class they teach that someone drunk can’t actually consent.

Okay, now that I’ve got that off my chest, let me talk about the perfect prostrate pounding penis – nice alliteration, by the way. Charlie and Ethan are perfectly suited and not just because one is a top and one is a bottom. Charlie is successful, rich, and lonely. Ethan is, well, none of those things. Well, maybe lonely. He writes for a tabloid and lives in a cheap run-down place. He in no way believes that Charlie would be interested in more than a one-night stand, and Charlie has to fight every impulse to drag Ethan into his bedroom and keep him there. Forever. Now, novellas are, by their nature, short. Sometimes you have to suspend disbelief with the instalove thing. Somehow, though, despite the short period of time, I believed Charlie and Ethan would make a good couple. And not just because they both react differently to commands like ‘come for Daddy’.

I would have enjoyed this novella regardless, but Michael Ferraiuolo’s narration took the story to a whole new level of wonderful. I enjoy Michael’s narrations and he’s one of my favorites. I can happily recommend this story as a nice addition to a kick-ass amazingly awesome series.

Sweet and hot story

This was a very very hot story with some wonderfully sweet moments.

I quite liked Ethan and Charlie, they were both great men and I loved their relationship.

Loved it

A great Valentine’s Day short, not the emotional rollercoaster the other books in the series have been but a very enjoyable story. It’s funny, the banter is great but there’s also a sweet romance.

Michael Ferraiuolo Does an awesome job yet again.

Loved it!

This was so good! Humourous, sweet, sassy, hot and heartwarming.
This can be enjoyed as a standalone, but there is a bit more enjoyment in knowing the secondary characters from Damage Control (another excellent story and performance). But I digress.
This is a short story, Charlie and Ethan pretty much fall in love almost at first meeting. But the story has a depth a bit of complexity that makes one feel that its more than a novella, especially with the brilliant narration 🤗
Michael Ferraiuolo is simply brilliant! His performances never fail to transport me to a place where I feel I have a front row seat to the story. This is an excellent wy to enjoy this lovely, short story.

So good.

This is a short valentines novella that you wish was longer, well I did, the chemistry between the MC's was instantaneous even if it starts with insults. With a happy ending that so sweet. It’s well written that Michael has no trouble bringing the story to life. I could listen to this time and again.

Cursing me is loving me

I love Lynn Van Dorn’s work and Michael Ferraiuolo’s performance on this one is just sugar icing on the cake. It was purrfect!

Sometimes, a mistake has to be made before the most perfect thing can happen. Ethan is grumpy and unhappy because he was forced to attend a gala with his hateful ex and now he’s lost his way in the mansion. And Charlie has practically given up on finding love until he met the spitfire, charming Ethan who is cursing his name with such passion. Sometimes hate sex is the way to begin a perfect Valentine’s Day romance.

Charming, sexy, funny and decadent. Just perfect for a Valentine’s Day novella treat. I look forward to more books in the North Shore stories because they are really different and amusing. Love it!

A kinky short that is just OK

The narration was good even though at some point I felt like the narrator sounded almost indifferent.
I felt like the kink was too nuch too fast, without any indication to safewording and such. The thrill of falling into lust, and love, is there but the possessive way the story went about put me off.

Perfect audio

I loved this audio! Michael Ferraiuolo did an amazing job capturing Ethan’s bratty attitude.
This is one of my favorite novellas ever. All the pop culture references made my 80s movie heart so happy.
If you like snarktastic dialogue and hot sex, this is the audio for you. The is SO Hollywood love story. Loved it. Can you tell? Lol
This will definitely get a re-listen!

A Great Story

This is the prequel book in the North Shore Stories Series. A delightful book the writing was great. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters captivating. The characters were developed and thought out. Ethan and Charlie are the MC’s of this book. The narration was good and done well. I can recommend this book as a good read/listen. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

What a fabulous Novella!

This was so good! I adored Damage Control and Daddy Issues and this was a wonderful look into how Ethan and Charlier came to be! For such a short book, the character development was fabulous. I felt the love Charlie had for his boy. There was so many feelings mixed in with so many sexy times. It was splendid!
As usual Michael Ferraiuolo was superb. His voices for Ethan and Charlie were great and it was wonderful to hear Tyler and Pervie again and their voices were exactly as I remember them from the other books. His tone and pace is perfection, I could listen to him all day long. Just wonderful!

Full of bratty goodness

This was the perfect “valentine” listen. Full of low angst and steamy bratty goodness. I’ve read all of the true north series but had missed this during its initial ebook release and right now I’m super sad this wasn’t in my life sooner. Ferraiuolo did a fantastic job as always! Ughhhh I loved Ethan so much! 😍

A must listen!

This story was so intense and short and everything I never thought I wanted!

It starts with a break-up, then the Valentine's Day awkwardness. But then someone completely unexpected breaks in to Ethan's easy life and blows it apart in one single day. And yes, it seemed like insta-love but it was such an emotional connection, that it felt possible and real.

I've read other books in this series and have enjoyed them, but I fell in love with this one and would listen again and again! Michael F. is incredibly charming and leaves out no punches in the feelings department! I consider this a must listen.
