Summary
Now with a new bonus chapter featuring a six-week Battle Ready programme.
How do you make a commitment and achieve your goals?
How do you end procrastination and hesitation that feeds self-doubt?
How do you learn to be courageous in all aspects of your life?
Ex-Special Forces soldier Ollie Ollerton knows more than his fair share about keeping going. As a recruit he survived the infamously tough SAS selection process on a busted ankle with the directing staff pleading with him to give up. But it's in Ollie's personal life that he really had to dig deep. At his lowest he was battling a failed relationship, substance abuse, depression and a reckless disregard for his own life. In his new audiobook, Ollie tells the story of how he turned his life around and passes on the lessons he has learned.
In Battle Ready Ollie shares the step-by-step plan that changed his life. From finding purpose and visualising an outcome, to breaking bad habits and establishing positive new routines, his advice will help listeners to overcome their own obstacles; to become ready for any battle.
Featuring an exclusive debrief with Ollie and Jason Fox (co-host of SAS: Who Dares Wins and author of Battle Scars and Life Under Fire).
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

It’s a good book BUT...
Look... there’s some lessons in here but, I got the distinct feeling they were lessons passed forward from other writers work mixed in with some anecdotes from his life.
The lessons are there and he does credit the other authors (fair play) but it didn’t have the strong call to action he intended simply because there’s better books out there and I got the feeling Ollie didn’t really believe in it fully either.
David Goggins & Ant Middleton (first man in) to name two authors who will leave you raring to go.
I’m kinda mixed with this in all honesty! Good enough to read but I can’t see many following through in the actions because, I don’t think Ollie believes enough in them either.
There’s is also contradictions within the story - I,e, coffee. In one chapter it’s a toxin then in another chapter it helps with alertness and is a superfood? I mean which is it?
Overall buy it - it’s worth the content but is lacking in some areas.

Not for self help
Looking at the reviews, I thought this would be an inspirational self help book. In fact the sample leads you to think this. I only made it halfway through chapter 1 before having to switch it off. Bless Ollie, but it's poorly written. Littered with clunky metaphors and overly indulgent and emotive reflections I had to switch it off. The constant third person referrals had me cringing from the start.
Sorry, but Battle Ready is not going to transform my life.

The power of the chimp
Acceptance. Guile. Resilience. Persistence. Diligence. Honesty. Openness. Faith.
That is strength.
That is power.
That is what this book records, conveys and stokes.
It is in you.
It is you.
It’s not life changing, it’s life affirming.
Thank you so much for sharing it.
In the darkest of the millisecond,
For some can’t look for the hour.
Breathe, feel,
Own that moment.
This miracle of life
Is forged from love and respect
Equally as it is pain and ire.
Trust your instinct.
Fill your mind.
Rekindle what makes you smile inside.
Carefully, with absolute intent,
Stoke and feed your fire.

One of the best ‘self help’ books I’ve listened to
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it has everything you need if you are on the path of self development, self awareness and self improvement. I have always loved Ollie but this just blew me away. He takes an alternative approach that is right up my street. Positive thinking, visualisation, dealing with childhood traumas, affirmations all of the things that I think build a more resilient & better version of yourself. Thanks Ollie I’m even more of a fan now!

Great book - I would definitely recommend
I got a lot out of this book. What I really liked was that Ollie is completely open and honest about his own troubles and how the techniques and ideas he describes have helped him. To me this made it all much more credible,
I also prefer his more thoughtful, down-to-earth style with less of the inflated tough guy stuff and effing and blinding that characterises other similar books on the market at the moment.
I have already used some of the ideas in the book - thanks Ollie! - to help me sit down and work out my own plans for the future along with goals and dates etc and I am really committed and focusing on them now and it has given me a renewed sense of purpose.
