Summary

Repeat after me: Stay away from the hot girl.

The beautiful girl.

The f--king ray of sunshine in the middle of your delivery route.

Layla Barros is everything I never knew I wanted. Everything I'll never have.

She's an innocent young student. I'm a convicted felon.

She's rich girl from a nice family. I've got nothing but a broken home.

But if I'm an addict, she's my drug. I can't stay away, even though I know I'll ruin her in the end.

She might be the girl of my dreams, but I was always a bad idea.

Contains mature themes.

GREAT LOVE STORY. Tackles people's perceptions of others from different social economic backgrounds, immigration, poverty, racism, bigotry, infatuation, neglect... so many issues. I really didn't realise until I'd finished! However!! None of the above topics are handled in a judgemental or heavy-handed way. They're woven into the story. Gave me lots to consider after finishing the book... The cliffhanger at the end though??!! Geez 😳 On to book two...

LOVED IT!!!

A really heart-warming age-gap New Adult romance between Layla, a student, and Nico, a dreamer. These two have a lot of chemistry and heat, and are so perfect for each other, but fate seems to have other ideas. This ended on a bitter-sweet note, but it is book 1, in a series, so hopefully we'll get the HEA by the end.

I listened to this book on audio, and thought the two narrators really brought the story to life.

A bitter-sweet romance 4.5 stars

Decided to give this a go. Found it very angsty and slightly annoying, but managed to get to the end- a cliffhanger (3book series)
I like the relationship between the characters in the beginning, but Nico is turning out to be rather gutless 🤔 Layla is also turning out to be quite immature, and quite frankly a bit of a doormat.
The narration was good, but I’m hoping things turn out better in book 2.

Perseverance 🤷‍♀️
