About this listen

It looked like a simple murder case. But the victim’s false identity is just the beginning….

Edinburgh DCI Harry McNeil’s dangerous job wasn’t made for relationships. So when a female officer’s mutilated remains wash up in a canal, it feels like proof he was right to leave his long-time girlfriend. But the investigation takes an unexpected turn when he discovers the corpse was carrying a police ID belonging to a cop already dead and buried.

Digging deeper, McNeil learns the woman was actually a software engineer nosing around high-tech, classified projects, and poking into murky government corners. So when a second body surfaces, he fears the truth lies in the darkest corners of greed and corruption. And someone is determined to make certain those secrets never come to light. Can McNeil catch the killer before the deadly tables are turned on him?

Great book to listen to, Looking into our future transport exciting and scary. Love the twist towards the end, was not expecting that.

Narrator of this book is excellent I have listened to a number of the books he has done and enjoyed everyone.

A glimpse into what is to come.

Love the balance of intrigue and humour. Still wish the abridgement was a little more considered but I’m nonetheless hooked on this series.

Engaging yarn

Ok story but just didn’t consider it much of a thriller. Some of the character voices weren’t great. Ok as a holiday book, wouldn’t read again or recommend.

Holiday read/listen, nothing more.

A bit long winded and before I listened to this audiobook I was a bit annoyed paying one credit for an under 5 hour book. After listening to it I was glad when it ended and found it quite boring. I had listened to the previous books in the DCI Harry McNeil thrillers and quite enjoyed them. I might give the next one a chance and hope it isn't so drawn out. If it wasn't for the narrator, who is excellent. I would have given up completely.
