Summary

For fans who love the darkness of FSOG, This Man, Twist Me, Captive in the Dark & Red Sparrow.

BLAIRE: Part 1 in The Dark Romance Series - Bought. Conditioned. My name is Blaire. I'm head of security to a man who controls the Russian underworld in Europe. His name is Maksim and he's my master. He bought me 10 years ago and conditioned me with brutality to worship and protect him. And I have protected him. I've slain everyone who has tried to do him harm. Everyone but a man he loans me to; a man who threatens to break me and everything I believe in. You're going to need a strong stomach and a strong heart to follow my story, because take my word for it, it's no fairy tale.

BLAI2E: Part 2 in The Dark Romance Series - Don’t take what isn’t yours. Unless you’re willing to fight for it. I survived my depraved master, Maksim. Now, I belong to Charlie Decena, by nature and by nurture. He broke everything I believed in. My life still lingers in the gray zone - dark and light, love and hate, betrayal and murder. I’m battling Maksim’s brutal conditioning to uncover who Blaire is, for Charlie. I adhere to his counsel, indulge in his debauched desires, and pacify his dominance - until he pushes me too far. I hope I didn’t completely shatter your heart in the beginning of my story because it’s just getting started. I’m being tested beyond my limit by a lurking threat who has taken something very dear to me. And if they don’t return what isn’t theirs, someone is going to die.

There’s Something About BLAIRE - This is not a full length novel: 6,000 word count. This is a bonus scene from BLAIRE Part 1 in Charlie’s point of view.

Enjoy listening to over 29 hours of contemporary dark Romance. This series box set comes with bonus scene material.

IT'S DARK.. & OVERFLOWING WITH SUSPENSE & FEELS

Wow.. this is a very dark and twisted journey, a rollercoaster ride that picks up speed and intensity then plunges headlong into heartache and, as much as you want to look away, you simply can’t because it’s THAT good. So, all you can do is hold your breath, anxiously bite your nails as your blood pressure rises and rises.. and you pray to all that is holy that this chilling/thrilling ride will eventually lead to a HEA ending.. but arrrrgh, instead it’s a cliffhanger.

This is an epically written twisted romance between two very damaged killers, it’s a compelling suspenseful story that will end in a turbulent sea of betrayal, broken promises, bloodshed and battered hearts. It’s not for the squeamish, the sensitive souls or the easily offended.. no, it’s for those of us who want a thrill ride, who want to be shocked and submerged in a dark story of kidnapping, bloody torture, rape, brutal punishments and sadistic men who all want to control and use the emotionally void, cold and detached Blair. She has been ‘programmed’ from 8 yrs old and now she quietly, efficiently and subserviently executes her master’s every command. It could be hacking, protecting her master at any costs, brutally killing for him, mindlessly following his sadistic orders, take his punishments and accept them as fair and to leave mayhem and murder in her wake because nothing affects her.. until Charlie. He will become her selfless saviour, her passionate protector, her loving friend, her devoted lover, her salvation.. and her downfall. Charlie is a virgin and her master intends to keep her that way.

It’s an action-packed drama-heavy scary ride into darkness, it’s a slow unfurling of truths, it’s a passionate plea for redemption, it’s a beacon of hope for salvation, it’s a story of love and how it heals - and how it hurts.. and it ends on a promise that lots more anguish will follow these deeply damaged characters. It’s a highly charged explosion on your senses and sensibilities and Shiri Rae expertly brought Blaire’s story to life and smoothly switched from accent to accent, charged the scenes with all the right feels, convincingly switched from character to character male to female and bloody shocking drama to passionate sweet promises in the blink of an eye. Hunter Millbrook did a good job with Charlie’s POV in the epilogue and bonus scene.

Worth a credit? Yes.. for me, this was a pulse-pounding, heart-racing, jaw-dropping wild and crazy ride.. and I cannot wait for more.

How incredibly frustrating! She is so annoying!

WOW...this is really a great story, BUT Blair (the character) is so annoying. She really thinks she does no WRONG! I realize she had it bad... she should really understand it could have been soo much worse. (she was not rapped) Most of the other ladies not so fortunate. Same at the end she pretends she has NO fault! I mean are you flipping kidding me! She is not REALLY held accountable for anything she did especially at the end. I really made a fool of myself screaming at my speakers over this issue. For someone that is so strong she sure does behave like a child. I did not expect that for her character. Unfortunately, that really took away from what this story could have been. Also why dual narration? I was really looking forward to having male and female voices throughout, not just the epilogue for him. how disappointed 😞

Dark & Dirty

I LOVE the Blaire series. Anita has an amazing imagination and articulates herself in such a way that creates an amazing image in my mind how things play out - WOW! Shirl Ray and Hunter MillBrook narrate these stories and accents to bring the characters to life.

Psychological torment these characters lived, were haunted and struggled to survive. Everyone struggles differently and everyone heals differently, so when Anita writes her characters with such depth and dis spare my heart wretched for all their flaws and their corrupt thoughts to survive while trying to love.

Blaire's brother is her protector and yet he struggles with his own demons and relationship. Charlie is emotionally captivated by the broken Blaire and loves her and struggles with his own monster inside him.

Broken people surviving among several corrupt communities all struggling to survive and understand what love really is. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger....not sure that's quite true for these characters. AMAZING DARK ROMANCE in my opinion.

I was hoping for much more but it did pass the time

So I truly love a well written dark romance. I’m the type that wants all my. Triggers pulled. But this one pretty much fell flat for me. I felt nothing for BLAIRE. I get that her being practically gone death is part of this story but she took it to far. Her poor me attitude while not looking at her part in the sequence of events was absolutely mind blowing. I mean she freakin slaughtered a crap load of his men and just thought she’d get a free pass?! And then Charlie still sincerely apologized and tried to showed her he’s sincere and still she continues to be a spoiled little 💩head?!?! Now Charlie even in his darkness is very easy to love I would change nothing about his character. I wish he’d find himself a girl worthy of him.

The narrator took quite a while to warm up to. Or at least get use to. She mispronounce some of the Spanish words. Which by itself is no big deal but The words she kept mispronouncing we’re used so frequently that I spent a lot of time cringing. Such as Cariño she pronounced Carino😬.

I didn’t realize that 98% of the books are narrated by the female as it’s basically a 1st person book. He gets the last hour. I feel it’s misleading when posted this way and there should be a note in the blurb.

3.5 stars

I couldn't really get into these two books, took me almost a month to finish listening to this story bc some of the context/plot was just kind of boring. & I especially could not freaking for the life of me stand Blaire. The dang main character and title of this book. She is an absolutely irritating character, whose wishy washy, and her background fits her perfectly to the tea. The reason she's so freaking irritating and stupid even tho she's a genius is bc of her past and what she's been thru, so it makes sense, but doesn't mean it makes you hate her decisions or choices or even her any less. She's made to be a badass, but she's actually just a stupid little girl with crazy trauma.
Overall, I give this 3.5 stars. The performance of the narration was good, standable, and the story was okay, there was a lot of repetitive going back and forth of losing Blaire and getting her again and so on. Listen at your own expense and then there's a third book... lol. I don't think I'll be listening or reading the third book.

Detailed...

I really appreciated this Dark Romance! It took me on a journey for three days(read the whole series with bonus scenes). As an American I had to update my London "lingo" examples are "trainers" "joggers" etc but I caught on! As noted above THIS BOOK IS DETAILED! At times at a snails pace, or it repeats as how the main Character got to be in the situation over and over. that being said, I LOVED THIS SERIES OF BOOKS AND AWAIT MORE! The main female character was complex, had depth to her altho at times I did get frustrated at her depth of naiveté to the lengths she doesn't understand/explains her wrongs to the point that you wanna scream! That's where I had to put myself in her shoes to better understand this character! Grab this book, enjoy the emotional Rollercoaster ride with an open mind and I guarentee you it'll take you away! Can't wait fir Blair 3 tho! Anita , hurry I'm so desperate for the next installment!

Loved it.

If you loved this book then check out Ann Zaires that's how I got to this book by recommendation same style of writing. First I need to seatdown and account for every minute of the day for the last 3 days, something ain't right, I listened to this book in 3 days! I know I went to work in those 3 days, showered and slept in those 3 days it's unbelievable. This is my first time reading Anita Gray's work and boy ! did I enjoy the ride. All the human emotions were experienced did not want it to ever end . The narrator's Shirk & Hunter were just awesome, thank you for bringing the characters to life ,thank you for helping us feel all the emotions with you the accents were on point am not an expert on accents so if they were not I'll never know coz these two sold it well do thank you .
