Conservatives can tell you what Trump posted this morning, what some senator in Washington said on cable news, and which DC bureaucrat embarrassed himself this week. Cool. Now name your city council members. Your sheriff. Your state legislators. Heck, name your Congressman. That’s the problem. We obsess over Washington while ignoring the people making decisions that directly affect our families, businesses, schools, property and communities. And the more we abandon local government, the easier it becomes for centralized power to run roughshod over us without the checks and balances the Founders intended. Today, I’m joined by Sam Anthony, founder of yourNEWS, to talk about why hyperlocal news and political engagement matter, how citizen journalism can expose what’s happening in our own backyards, and why conservatives heading into the midterms need to stop treating politics like a national reality show and start paying attention to the government down the street.
