Eight-year-old Kyle has already weathered more storms than most — orphaned young, living with relatives, and quietly battling epilepsy. But everything changes the day he meets Ragamuffin, a scrappy huskydoodle pup with mismatched eyes and a mysterious gift: she can sense Kyle’s seizures before they strike.Together, they become inseparable — a boy and his dog, navigating a world that doesn’t always understand them. But when Ragamuffin leaps to protect Kyle from a violent attack by a creature unknown, the town sees only chaos. Misunderstood and labeled dangerous, Ragamuffin faces punishment she doesn’t deserve.Enter Rodney Mankin, the eccentric Fur & Feather Whisperer, who speaks the language of animals and the silence between people. Rodney must race against time to save Ragamuffin from the noose — and uncover the truth behind the attacker’s pain before another tragedy unfolds.A story of loyalty, second chances, and the invisible threads that bind us, The Forest Knows is a heart-tugging mystery for readers who believe in the healing power of love — and the courage it takes to protect it.©2025 Marilyn A Deeter (P)2026 Marilyn A Deeter Amateur Sleuths Mystery Science Fiction
