At one point I had more than 800 AI-generated images on my computer and had made exactly zero dollars from them. I know there were more than 800 because I eventually tried to organize the folder. This lasted about fifteen minutes. I made folders called GOOD, MAYBE and USE LATER. There was also one called BEST that somehow ended up with 143 images in it, which probably defeated the purpose. Most of the pictures looked impressive to me. There were futuristic cities, strange houses, product photos for products that didn't exist, landscapes, logos, posters and a surprising number of astronauts. I don't remember deciding to make so many astronauts.Generating them was fun because every few minutes something new appeared on my screen. If I didn't like it, I changed a few words and tried again. If I did like it, I saved it and immediately made six more versions. Sometimes I'd start with one idea and end up somewhere completely different twenty minutes later. A picture of a house would turn into a house on another planet, which would turn into a city on another planet, which was apparently when the astronauts usually showed up.I started imagining ways to sell them. Prints seemed obvious. Maybe book covers. Posters. Stock images. Logos. Social media graphics. At some point I looked into putting designs on T-shirts. I was doing the same thing I'd done with business ideas for years, except now I could produce the thing almost as quickly as I could think of it.My folder kept getting bigger. My bank account did not.©2026 Johnny Harper (P)2026 Johnny Harper
