Welcome to today’s Bible study.

In this episode of 1 Kings 20 (KJV), we continue our verse-by-verse journey through the book of 1 Kings as King Ahab faces repeated attacks from Benhadad, king of Syria. This chapter explores God's sovereignty, obedience, pride, mercy, warfare, and the consequences of failing to follow God's instructions.

Benhadad surrounds Samaria and demands its surrender, but the LORD gives Israel victory despite their limited strength. After a second battle, Israel defeats the Syrians again, demonstrating that victory does not depend upon military strength but upon God's power.

Despite these victories, Ahab makes a covenant with Benhadad instead of carrying out God's judgment. A prophet confronts Ahab and declares that his failure to obey will bring consequences upon him and Israel.

Through this chapter, we see God's power to deliver His people, the danger of pride, and the seriousness of partial obedience. Ahab's victories could not excuse his failure to follow God's command.

Together, we will study this chapter verse-by-verse, exploring its historical context, theological depth, and spiritual lessons about God's sovereignty, obedience, pride, mercy, leadership, warfare, and the consequences of compromising God's commands.
