Rina Kent
From New York Times bestselling author Rina Kent comes a nail-biting MM dark romance between two hockey rivals.
When two ruthless enemies collide.
My name is Preston Armstrong, and I’m the most depraved bastard you’ll ever meet.
I take what I want, ruin what I don’t, and live exactly how I please.
That is, until I crash into the force of nature that is Marcus Osborn.
Captain of our rival hockey team, and the perpetual thorn in my side.
A migraine in human form and the one person who refuses to play by my rules.
He’s my brand of heartless and just as deranged.
I set out to crush him, his career, and his infuriatingly gorgeous face.
But Marcus hits back with equal force, turning our rivalry into a violent, addictive dance neither of us can walk away from.
We were supposed to annihilate each other.
Instead, we spark a fire that threatens to devour everything in its path.
In this battle of two unhinged souls, our bodies become collateral damage.
But I never expected our stone-cold hearts to get involved.
Tropes:
Unhinged Chaos x Unhinged Calm

Tempting Venom is a male x male college romance. While this book can be listened to on its own, for a better understanding of the world, it's recommended to listen to Beautiful Venom & Sweet Venom first.

Ahhhh! Rina Kent has written another 5⭐️ MM and I'm buzzing that Sirus's story is coming! AHHH How long do I need to wait????
Of course I started this on audiobook because why wouldn't you with Teddy Hamilton and JF Harding! 5⭐️ from both performers 👏 👏 👏

I knew from reading the others in the venom series that this one would hands down be my favourite because I fell in Love with Preston as a side character in those books.. but I really had no idea how hard I would fall for Marcus as well as Preston! This just felt like an epic love story.. completely fated. The book had everything I love.. yearning and angst, trauma and humour and all the beautiful spice 🔥 and omg the prologue.. I wasn’t ready to cry straight away!! Gahhhh I was worried that I would have hyped this one up in my head too much but it 100% didn’t disappoint.
I have fallen hard and I’m going to have a re read immediately as I’m already missing them.. this one goes straight to the top for me!
Rina has surpassed herself!!

My god... this was EVERYTHING I wanted it to be and somehow even better.
This is hands down my favorite book in the Vipers series.
I genuinely could not stop listening to this audiobook. Every time I had to pause it because life rudely demanded my attention, I was personally offended. Rina Kent has this terrifying ability to make you think you know exactly where a story is going before pulling the rug out from under you and laughing while you sit there questioning everything you've ever believed.
And before I get into literally anything else...
MARCUS. FUCKING. OSBOURNE.
SIR.
Respectfully...
What the actual hell.
I've loved Marcus ever since he first showed up in the previous books. You could immediately tell he existed purely to annoy Preston into an early grave, but I never expected him to be THIS sweet. This man is equal parts menace and golden retriever. From the very beginning he's possessive without being overbearing, constantly touching Preston, always hovering around him, always making sure he's okay, and somehow manages to make all of it ridiculously adorable.
The way this man called Preston "my prince" and "baby" every five seconds...
Yeah.
I folded.
Completely.
Marcus is also the undisputed KING of rage baiting. Every time Preston went on one of his homicidal little speeches, Marcus would just smile like, "Aww, look at him threatening murder again. He's so cute." Instead of running away like any sane person, he'd match Preston's energy and throw something equally unhinged back at him just to watch him short-circuit.
Absolute menace.
10/10.
No notes.
Then we have Preston.
We all knew from the previous books that there was so much more going on beneath his petty, dramatic, sarcastic exterior, but actually getting inside his head absolutely shattered me.
Preston loves so deeply.
He just doesn't know how to exist in a world that keeps convincing him he shouldn't.
Watching him care so fiercely for his sister, for his friends, and eventually for Marcus was honestly beautiful. He struggles constantly, but despite everything he's carrying, he's still there for the people he loves.
And can we please appreciate that this man has NEVER let go of a grudge?
This man found out his boyfriend used to sleep with his best friend's girl and decided Dahlia no longer deserved her government-issued name. From that point onward she became every D-name under the sun except Dahlia.
Daphne.
Deborah.
Doris.
Dandelion.
Literally anything but Dahlia.
I was crying laughing every single time. The pettiness is inspirational.
What I loved most about this book, though, is that beneath all the chaos, murder jokes, and ridiculous banter, this story goes so much deeper than a simple rivalry.
It's about trauma.
Healing.
Learning that someone can love every broken piece of you instead of asking you to fix yourself first.
Marcus never lets Preston get away with his bullshit. He calls him out constantly while also making it crystal clear that he's not going anywhere. He sees every ugly part of Preston and somehow just... loves him harder.
I adored that.
Their relationship also felt completely unique compared to every other Rina Kent couple. Their physical intimacy, their dynamic, the way they communicate—it all felt different, and once you finally learn the full story behind Preston, everything clicks into place. Every little detail suddenly makes perfect sense.
The emotional payoff was incredible.
I also loved that despite being surrounded by enough mommy and daddy issues to fuel five more Rina Kent series, Marcus actually has an amazing relationship with his mother.
Can we PLEASE talk about her??
An emergency room nurse.
Zero tolerance for nonsense.
Completely supportive.
Absolutely iconic.
She was honestly such a refreshing presence, and I loved every single scene she appeared in. It was so nice seeing an actually healthy parent-child relationship for once.
One thing Rina absolutely nailed was the timeline.
The book overlaps with the events of the first two books, but it never feels repetitive. Instead of simply replaying scenes we've already read, we're given completely new perspectives that make familiar moments hit even harder. It somehow managed to make everything feel fresh while expanding the overall story.
Then...
THAT scene. If you've read Sweet Venom, you already know about Preston's "death."
You know it's coming.
You know exactly what's about to happen.
IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Reading it from Marcus's perspective absolutely destroyed me.
The grief.
The desperation.
The sheer hopelessness.
I was sitting there trying SO HARD not to cry because I knew the second I started, I'd have to pause the audiobook just to go blow my nose after sobbing into oblivion.
Spoiler alert...
I failed.
Marcus's grief felt so painfully real that it honestly made my chest hurt.
And when he completely snapped afterward?
That killing spree??
I support women's rights.
But more importantly...
I support Marcus Osborne's wrongs.
And the fact that we finally learn the story behind the candy wrappers.
EXCUSE ME??
My heart physically could not handle it.
Every tiny piece of this puzzle slowly falls into place, and every revelation somehow hurts more than the last.
And THEN...
RINA KENT DECIDES SHE HASN'T SUFFERED ENOUGH VIOLENCE AGAINST HER READERS.
Because that final revelation...
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
I NEVER.
NOT FOR ONE SECOND.
SAW THAT COMING.
Not in a million years.
My jaw actually dropped.
I genuinely just sat there staring into space trying to process what I'd just heard because WHAT???
Rina Kent's brain honestly terrifies me in the best possible way. The way she weaves these stories together, plants clues years in advance, and then casually drops revelations that completely rewrite everything you thought you knew... it's actually insane.
Marcus and Preston are absolute perfection together.
One is unhinged chaos. The other is unhinged calm. Just like Rina said. And somehow they're soulmates.
This book made me laugh, cry, gasp, scream, and question my own sanity approximately every three chapters.
I loved every single second of it.
The Emotional Damage Was Worth Every Second
