this one was fun but we don't get a huge amount of progress compared to Bruce's other series. this one feels a little less refined with plot threats raised then left hanging. the book feels like it should be longer, hinting at crafter's being kidnapped in the last few pages. the start is yet another timesink instance story which is basically a way to get two more harem members but feels rushed. the princess seems to go from murderous to almost tricking her way in at one point. as if she had a master plan but it's not touched on. Gloria once more is pretty ignored for most of the book,

and the meta plot barely moves forward at all and feels like the main character is being countered every move he makes, negating his supposed skills. in combat he's still fine but this series isn't Bruce at his best I feel. it's still good but not as tight as ARDS Oath or Dragons Justice .

MOAR!!!!

Now for my polite review. more please. 🥹😂 a great series i often forget about while delving through a sea of rubbish looking for gems, only to remember it and use it to remember what a decent series is. up there with Amazon Apocalypse, and a step below the S ranked legends such as Primal hunter, He who fights with monsters etc.

seeing as how those series are constantly being obsessively cycled by me, I'd say that the returners defiance is a A ranked book series, which is in no way bad. the voice acting is on POINT. the characters feel alive and fleshed out and the story is a great and... well, not classic. its an unoriginal concept but done well.

If you want something original, you're silly, and the closest you'll ever get to that is the SSS ranked world seed. nothing is original anymore and what we need to focus on is quality, which this series and its narrator have in spades.

i kinda liked the change in pace.

I've loved this entire serie, but this book I disliked. MC is suddenly a just a memory and useless. Yeah, I start skipping when that happened. Hopefully next book is better.
