"It's not a story."
With four words, Helena’s quiet life goes up in flames. When her childhood friend returns to tell her she is the prophesied ruler of the Chosen—those blessed with the gift of magic—there’s no avoiding her destiny. Suddenly, Helena is surrounded by a circle of protectors, each man having sworn their loyalty to her since her birth. All except for one: her Mate.
It’s not enough that she simply learn how to use her magic and undergo a trial to prove her worth; in order to claim her title, Helena must also find the man who carries the other half of her soul.
Exiled due to a past he had no part in, Von is the last man the Chosen expect Helena to select. Despite the protests, his soul calls to hers, and fate will not be denied. But finding each other is only the beginning because the prophecy stands, and not all is as it seems.
There’s an enemy lurking within plain sight who will stop at nothing to destroy her.
If you adore romantasies filled with fantastic magic, nail-biting suspense, characters that feel like your friends, diabolical villains, and a once-in-a-lifetime love that can save the world, this series is for you! Recommended for ages 18+ due to adult language, content, and scenes with graphic violence.

❤️Liked: The overall story was interesting enough to keep me wondering what would happen next.
❌Disliked: Every scene moves on too quickly and misses opportunities to elaborate on the details, the kind of details that carry you along for the ride and help you understand the characters. Whenever something new happened, it felt like a stretch. Even the intimate scenes had no real build-up; all the right words were there, the ones you hear from other authors describing those moments, but I just wasn’t buying it. The same goes for the whole “mate” concept. The way it came about felt nothing like finding your mate. It was such a mundane event, yet it was then spoken about as the rarest, most precious thing in the world. That sense of things not quite adding up was a recurring problem. A good effort overall, but it needs far more depth. It’s roughly half the length it should be, in my opinion, to be a great book.
Great narration, thin story 😬
