A total nobody who became a somebody is quickly realizing he can still become a dead body in the third installment of this battle-packed xianxia series.

Before he was Slifer, supreme elder of the Black Rose Sect, he was Zack, devourer of junk food. Then the pathetic pudgepot relocated into the body of a top-tier cultivator, which he used to gain power while trying to reform the various evil demonic sects of his new home into something a bit less, well, demonic.

It hasn't been easy. Especially since the Great War between the demonic and righteous sects broke out for realsies. These days, Slifer has his hands full keeping his secret identity secret, collecting System cards, and holding the "good guys"—especially the fearsome, enigmatic Lady Chi—at bay.

But when he captures a high-ranking enemy warrior, Slifer discovers nothing's as it seems. None of the righteous have even heard of Lady Chi. Just as none of them know she's been manipulating them from the get-go so she can claim revenge against Slifer for killing her only love.

Now, Slifer must team up with his eternally hated foes (no simple task), uncover those still under Chi's possession (even more difficult), and somehow not get blown into oblivion (yeah, good luck with that).

The third volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series―with more than a million views on Royal Road―now available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook!

Tropes include: mind control, revenge scheme, kill or be killed, and secret identity.

Best in the series with an emotional end! Let’s hope for a book 4 and more since this series is peak entertainment!

Loved this one!

Kalzara nails the stakes, the fights and the conclusion on Slifer and crew struggles against impossible odds. We get way more Slifer face-slapping than Book 2 and those moments all delivers.

The story has reached a clear conclusion for this junction of Slifer and his sect, but as always with the Cultivation genre there's always a bigger and more powerful threat just around the corner.

i thoroughly enjoyed Jonathan McClain energetic and total committed performance in these 3 books. I'm eagerly awaiting Book 4 and more....

Kalzara has delivered again with Book 3. Pure Magnificence!

I still like the narrator for speaking quickly when necessary to skim through stat readings.

Unfortunately, the only good thing I can say about the actual plot in this book is that the final third of it introduces a couple of antagonists who're subsequently defeated quite quickly. I really, really wish that the antagonist who was causing trouble for the first two thirds of the book could have been bested that swiftly, because she's utterly uninteresting, with all the personality of a rabid ferret.

That's not the worst part, though, the worst thing about this book is that the author repeatedly forgets important details he established earlier in the series, and in at least one case, forgets a detail established in an earlier chapter of this very book.

The two worst mistakes, though, both pertain to a disciple named Hughey, with the first of these being Hughey being shocked that Slifer knows his magic ring has a spirit living in it, and Slifer assuring him that he doesn't mind... despite them having already had this conversation back in book 2. Worse still, in this book's epilogue, Slifer mentions Hughey coming to him to talk about his mortal girlfriend... which isn't just forgetting an event, it's the author hallucinating something that never happened. What actually occurred was Slifer finding the girl on his own, bringing her to the sect, and Hughey being shocked that his master knew of her existence.

I don't mean to sound rude, and I realise that when you've written this much about a specific setting, keeping track of all the details might be difficult... but other authors manage it, and if this author isn't willing or able to do that, then my recommendation to potential readers/listeners has to be to find an author who can and buy their books instead.

It's Bad, Real Bad
