Ryann Walker knows she’s a difficult woman; difficult enough that it would take a rare, and special breed of man to take her on permanently. Thankfully, she isn’t looking for that. What she does want is a baby. And after a rash decision made during a one-night stand, she just may be having one, with the very successful, good-looking, but completely wrong for her, Spencer Hall.

But once Spencer learns that he may become a father, Ryann just can’t shake him. He isn’t interested in being an absentee parent; and she isn’t interested in having a man hang around who is hell-bent on crawling into her heart, breaking down her defenses and unearthing all her secrets, including the ugliest one of all.

It took me a while to get into the story and the female lead wasn’t likeable but I’m glad I stuck it out. Great story and I look forward to reading more from the author.

The storyline was one I haven’t heard before which was great. Very realistic and an interesting look into something anyone could be goi no through. The female narrator wasn’t the greatest but the male narrator always brought it back to enjoyable. The female lead isn’t the nicest, but not everyone is nice and considering what she’s been through I guess she could’ve been worse.
I enjoyed this

An interesting story

It was interesting the way that the brother sister relationship played out and the whole family dynamics. It was heartwarming, heartbreaking and spicy all in one.

I had mixed feelings about The Lover. The story had an interesting premise, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t a book I particularly connected with.

For me, the pacing felt quite slow, and I struggled to get fully invested in the story. I also found Ryann a difficult character to warm to. The way she treated Spencer frustrated me at times, and I found myself getting annoyed with her behaviour towards him.

That said, as more of Ryann’s past is revealed and you begin to understand the trauma behind her actions, I did find myself empathising with her more. Understanding where her behaviour stems from gave her character more depth and helped me see her in a different light, even if it didn’t completely change how I felt about her.

I can appreciate what the author was trying to do with the characters and their emotional journeys, but ultimately, this one just didn’t quite work for me. It wasn’t a terrible read by any means; it simply wasn’t a story I enjoyed as much as I’d hoped.

Spencer was the character that carried this story

I tried to get into but it was sooo tedious!!! Although like the male narrators voice, the female sounded like she was on helium.

Boring!!!
