She writes about killers. He kills. This December, they'll meet.
Celeste Sterling came home to the Adirondacks with writer's block and daddy issues.
She'll leave with blood on her hands and a monster's ring on her finger.
Between now and then? Twenty-three days of being hunted by a man who makes her fictional villains look like choir boys. A man who collects deer skulls like love letters. Who knows every filthy word she's ever written—including the ones she deleted.
Welcome to a small town where everyone's keeping secrets, Daddy's gun won't save you, and the local serial killer has been waiting two years for his favorite author to come home.
Celeste thought she understood darkness. After all, she's made millions writing it.
But there's a difference between typing "he's dangerous" and having danger learn your daily routine. Between writing "touch her and die" and watching him make that promise literal.
Between creating a monster and realizing one already exists.

I really, really like stalker romances. It's one of my absolute favorite tropes, and this was just that! I wish it would have been a tiiiny bit more stalking (on page) before everything went down, but since he had stalked her for a few years before this, I guess it could count too😅
I had mixed feelings about Celeste. Half of the time, I loved her and half of the time she annoyed me. But in the end, she was great. Alongside Cain. They were a real twisted power couple!🖤
I also would have loved some more spice, but I always do, soooo...😈
I absolutely recommend this Audiobook, it's great if you love a good dark, a little gorey and mysterious romance 🖤

Loved the story got worried and thought I’d get bored. I’m not too keen on the ending but although really good keeps you on your toes with a massive twist

My biggest issue was the writing style. There were a lot of moments where it felt like the author was trying really hard to make the emotions sound deep and dramatic, but for me it just came across as over-the-top and a bit cringey. Instead of adding to the story, it often pulled me out of it.
The romance also moved far too quickly. The FMC seemed to fall for the MMC almost instantly, and considering everything that happened, I found it really hard to believe how quickly she accepted his actions. Her own sudden willingness to kill felt rushed too, and I never felt like there was enough character development to make those choices believable.
Another thing I struggled with was how every man seemed completely obsessed with the FMC. After a while it felt unrealistic and took away from the story rather than adding to it.
And those wedding vows… honestly, they made me groan out loud. They were so over-the-top and painfully obvious that I couldn’t take them seriously. Instead of being emotional, they just felt cheesy and completely missed the mark for me.
The premise was interesting enough to keep me listening, and I genuinely wanted to know how the story would end. Unfortunately, by the time I got to the last two chapters, I’d completely lost interest and ended up not finishing them. That’s pretty rare for me, but I just couldn’t bring myself to keep listening.
Overall, it wasn’t a terrible book, but the pacing, character development, and writing style stopped it from being a standout read for me.
Wanted to love it, but it missed the mark.
