About this listen

Three times they tried to kill her. Then they hired a professional. She hired Riyria.

When the last member of the oldest noble family in Avryn is targeted for assassination, Riyria is hired to foil the plot.

Three years have passed since the war-weary mercenary Hadrian and the cynical ex-assassin Royce joined forces to start life as thieves for hire. Things have gone well enough until they receive the odd assignment to prevent a murder. Now they must venture into a forgotten corner of southern Avryn—a place whose history predates the empire. As usual, challenges abound as they try to anticipate the moves of an unknown assassin before it's too late.

But that's not their only problem. The countess of Dulgath has a dark secret she's determined to keep hidden. Then there's the little matter of Riyria's new employer...the Nyphron Church.

From the best-selling author of The Riyria Revelations comes the third installment of The Riyria Chronicles. Although part of a series, it's designed to thrill both new listeners and Riyria veterans wishing to reunite with their favorite rogues.

The third full novel in the prequel series, and Sullivan is really back into the swing with Royce and Hadrian. Moreso, than the prior two books we get a full on banter throughout, with some great supporting characters and a fun plot. Looking forward to the next.

another excellent installment

Where does The Death of Dulgath rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A talented narrator and author make easy going of a slick storyline. A fine addition to the series.

What did you like best about this story?

The two main characters and their interaction are always an enjoyable experience.

What does Michael J. Sullivan and Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

A new dimension to the two main characters. As opposites their interaction and bickering seems both natural and enjoyably entertaining.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Many chuckles and a continued appreciation of an understated wordsmith in action. It is another perfect example of having the right narrator and direction, for the right author.

Any additional comments?

Just one gripe compared to the Riyira is that it seems a tad short by a chapter or two. Likely down to 'wanting more', but a slick production of work from a guy who seems a decent bloke. Next please =P.

Well written, well read and very fluent as always

I really did want to know what happened next, I love the relationship between the two main characters, and how the very different personalities manage to get on despite them.
Dare I say it...not long enough!
