In a dying world, heroes aren't born—they're forged or they're buried.

The light is fading. Shadows creep across Elystria and the Warrior Republic stands as one of the last strongholds holding back the void's desire to extinguish Elystria and its people for good.

As a gifted spatial mage of House Lysandor, Asterion carries the weight of everyone's expectations. While others see future leadership in him, he knows the truth—he'll either prove himself worthy of joining the Undying or get himself along with his friends killed trying.

Faced with a post-apocalyptic world beyond the protective wards, Asterion and his family must live up to their creed: To claim the sun—or be swallowed by shadow.

I enjoyed the book and lot though i will say the mc was already little bit disappointing in the ability and capability aspect. He feel a lot more like any other persob who would be in his position, not stronger nor weaker than his peers, yet having some advantages over them.

The only problem i really have with this type of mc is that it kind of defeats the point of a mc as they are normally made mcs because of something extraordinary or unique about them that diverts from the norm of there surroundings, which this mc doesn't really do and just feels the same as all the other characters excluding the fact you get to see more of his perspective. Not necessarily bad as I enjoyed the mcs personality, just hoping to see something more than others from him in later books.

Enjoyable

Great fantasy with minimal gamelit elements.
A slow progression that has definite promise in future releases.
Looking forward to book 2.

Great Fantasy.
