‘We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like, “I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive …”’

Hunter S. Thompson is roaring down the desert highway to Las Vegas with his attorney, the Samoan, to find the dark side of the American Dream. Armed with a drug arsenal of stupendous proportions, the duo engage in a surreal succession of chemically enhanced confrontations with casino operators, police officers and assorted Middle Americans.©1971 Hunter S. Hunter Thompson is a man I wish I could have met yet at the same time would have been terrified to meet too. The man’s an absolute genius and completely wild at the same time. The erratic yet strangely focused and specific thinking and story telling of this book is like nothing else. A completely insane yet meaningful journey makes you feel like he himself is telling you a story from his past. It’s truly amazing.

Just fantastic

Sums up a useless nation. Unbelievably boring . To make a cult hero of the guy ... pathetic.

I think, but don't quote me on this because I could be wrong, that he may have liked drugs.

So dull.
