About this listen

Welcome to The Process, a therapy retreat on the North Devon Coast.

Five delegates have assembled to face up to their issues. David, a hotshot lawyer, must overcome the perpetual sense that he is an outsider. Sujitha, a veteran German traveler, is an outsider too–in her home country. Sheila, a middle-aged executive, keeps on falling for charming but narcissistic men. Nathan appears to be totally ‘together’–what is his problem? Lola needs to balance her desire for independence with her traditional British Asian family. Louise, the therapist, who has risen from poor roots in Brooklyn, seems totally in control–but does she have her own unresolved issues too?

And alongside them is Jacob, the mysterious creator of The Process, whose dark past has up until now, been largely undetected. But technological changes are fast catching up with the other side to his ‘creativity’. What will happen if his two worlds collide?

The Process is a wonderful book that gives the reader an insight into the world of therapy in such a way I have never seen before! Fun to read and full of surprises in the plot whilst giving the reader food for thought. I felt reflective on my own life as well as the characters in the story with some laughs along the way.

Robbie Steinhouse’s amazingly original book

I really enjoyed how the author wove in theories from psychology, philosophy, and NLP. It felt like a great story that doubled as an introduction to the coaching world.
The mystery aspect kept me guessing the whole time, and I found myself smiling and laughing quite a bit. I also loved the deep dive into the 'double bind' concept—it really took me back to my NLP training. Highly recommend the audio version; the narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story to life.

Engaging, Educational, and Kept Me Guessing!
