About this listen
We thought death was the end, turns out it’s just the prologue.
RUE
I died, briefly. Then I came back. Now I’m determined to make the most of every minute I have left.
Only problem is I’ve been saddled with supervision. Kane Deveraux is handsome, smug, and cold as a tombstone. So why does he make me feel something more powerful than death?
KANE
As a reaper, I have helped crossover thousands of souls. And not one of them have touched mine…until Rue Chamberlain. She’s stubborn, reckless, and maddeningly radiant.
And for this centuries-old spirit, she’s a living woman that is absolutely off-limits. If I follow the rules, I will lose her. If I break them, I might lose everything.
Grim is a darkly romantic, wickedly funny tale of life, death, and a love that refuses to rest in peace.

Once this collaboration between DJ & Joe was announced I was so excited as I love and admire both their work. Their writing blended so beautifully in this book. This was a real MASTERPIECE and will forever stay with me. This book is embedded into my heart and I will forever be in awe of how beautifully raw this story is.
I was not prepared for the journey this story and this audiobook would take me on. This was more than just a book, it was a magically beautiful piece of art. It touched me like soul deep. Once I had finished I sat for a while in my feelings in amazement at the piece of poet magic ness I had just ingested the performance along with the sound scaping and music was just so beautiful. This story allowed me to heal parts of me I wasn't aware needed healing.
I highlighted so much of this book and this will be a book and go back and re-read those passages for healing and for support and for days where I need reminding that love is enough and that I am enough.
The cast for this book are some of my favourites so I knew this audiobook would be out of this world and it was so much more than I thought it would be.
Andi really showcased her emotional depth and ability to provide comedic timing to perfection, she made me feel connected to Rue and I really felt like we cried together. She really showcased how utterly talented she is and she can really make you feel all the feelings that the character is going through and just wow I am so blown away.
Joe's performance as Kane was nothing but flawless with the emotion and the grumpiness and the pure passion all while showcasing his accent work. He had also showcased the charm of Kane as well as his sarcasm and delivering on the comedy with other characters. Scenes with Kane and Big D were some of my favourites.
Maxine and June perform the Weaver sisters to utter perfection bringing all the sass these characters radiate!! They made me laugh and feel maybe even a little scared? They felt so in sync together with their timings making this performance epic. They also added voice to additional side characters with June providing such a beautiful performance as Rue’s mother. Maxine provided an emotional performance as Katherine Sinclair as well as providing voice to Mercy.
Sean Masters voiced Seek and Asher along with other supporting characters. Sean as Seek melted my heart so much the delivery on the lines was just so brilliant. I mean chapter 30 broke my heart so much. Sean’s Asher was swoon worthy and as a British Girly I would like to add that his British gets a big stamp of approval to provide two accents totally different was spectacular.
Mr James Cassidy as D was EVERYTHING! He was the star of the show for me and really provided the comedic side. He was able to demonstrate how talented he was within his vocal range. The scenes between him and Maxine as Big D and Mercy were really heart-warming and made me fall for them and ship them hard!
Blue Nose is my favourite and a reason why my library is full of books produced by them and they really out did them with their casting and production of this audio.
A True Masterpiece !!

I cannot accurately tell you, how excited I was to be chosen for this ALC. I have been anticipating this book ever since DJ and Joe announced they were writing it together. Man did it ever deliver. This book was beautifully written and I loved the multiple POV from the main characters and enjoyed this aspect of death and what waits for us afterwards. It is a unique take, and the writing we beautiful and poetic, with a sense of whimsy that was completely captivating. Then you have a cast of narrators who hit this out of the park. Andi was perfection as Rue, with June and Maxine narrating for Fate and Time as well as other female characters. Joe as Kane, matched perfectly with Andi. Sean is always a favorite to have in my ear holes, and rounding out the cast as Big D, played by James, no one else could have voiced him like James did.
Narration: Full cast, duet narration, first-person present tense, multiple-POV and flashbacks
Tropes: Dark, afterlife, reaper, sweet and fierce FMC, twist of time and fate, ghosts, heart condition rep, deceased parent, power struggles, enemies to lovers, death
Overall: 5
Spice: 2.5

Rue a beautiful person, living with a terminal heart condition, somehow dies before her time, and the one sent to collect her soul revives her setting into a motion a series of events that could disrupt the fabric of Time and Fate. Learning about the limited time she will be able to embrace this gift of being revived, she plans to make the most of it, but this gift comes with strings.
Kane has been reaping souls for centuries, and for the first time ever, he crosses a line he can’t come back from, by reviving Rue and giving her a little more time. This act comes with repercussions he never could have imagined, as he is now responsible for Rue until her true time comes.
As these two get closer and closer, and the rules that have held Kane hostage for so long are ones he doesn’t care about breaking if it brings him closer to Rue for the time she has left. With forces beyond their control pulling strings like a marionette, will these two be able to overcome the obstacles in their way, or are they doomed to spend eternity apart?
