They won't let the war stop them from finding happiness...

Naomi is upset to find a nasty, anonymous letter land on her doorstep. Who could’ve sent something like this? Naomi, Bert and the Churchwood bookshop organising team are determined to figure out who it is sending her these poison pen letters. Because it must be someone they know…

Ruby is preparing for her wedding to Kenny. But for some reason, she can’t figure out why she isn’t excited. Can she get to the root of her feelings and enjoy her special day?

Suki has fallen in love, with a handsome but unlikely suitor. Can she convince him she’s ready for love? Or will she be forced to accept rejection?

A book that takes you away from today’s trials and tribulations and one that shows how kindness is the great gift you can be given. Each chapter makes you want to get to the next to find out what happens in the lives of the characters each living their own lives but in twinned with those of their friends and neighbours. You can imagine being part of village life during wartime. All the characters are brought to life with their own personalities and voices. I love that the main characters voices remain the the same throughout the series of books, unfortunately this does not always happen in other series by other authors and their books loose authenticity in my opinion and l loose interest as I’ve already built up an image in my mind of what that character looks like and once the voice has changed so does the image so l think other authors could learn from Lesley

I could relate as it was set around the second world war, food rationing and life for most people in general.
