Another lovely Christmas tale of intrigue and romance all set in a castle in the beautiful Lake District from one of the queens of romantic fiction, Phillipa Ashley. The narrator took a few chapters to get into her stride and was a little stilted at first, but it didn’t take long for that to fade and the storyline took over.
Snowy mountains and open fires, Christmas markets, enchanting light illuminations, a Harley Davidson and motorbike leathers, a costume ball, and a priceless family relic all create the backdrop for Lara and Flynn as they manage Ravendale Castle’s festive season amidst shocks and surprises in their own personal lives.
As always Phillipa weaves in twists and turns along the way to ensure that the reader can never quite be sure where it will end - and this one has a clever ending - and brings to life the wonderful world of son-et-lumiere which so many of us are now able to enjoy at historic properties every year.
