About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

From USA Today bestselling author Rina Kent comes a new dark romance about a villain and his new obsession.

I caught the attention of a monster.
I didn’t ask for it.
Didn’t even see it coming.
But the moment I do, it’s too late.
Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm.
He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage.
The worst part is that no one sees his devil side.
I do.
And that will cost me everything.
I run, but the thing about monsters?
They always chase.

This book was mostly a man persuing a woman in a predatory way with lots of smut with a sprinkle of plot...luckily I like smut

I finally caved to all the hype and sadly was disappointed. The accents weren’t great but the story itself was a lot of the same for the majority of the book - guy chasing girl in predatory way and being very possessive. Not until the last quarter of the book that anything really happened. Felt like the fmc was a bit wishy washy for most of the book and just went along with whatever mmc wanted. Not sure I’ll be delving into the rest of the series unfortunately.

Bit of a let down after so much hype

Another absolutely unhinged masterpiece from RK!! From the first page, this book doesn’t just dip a toe into the darkness — it shoves you in headfirst and holds you over the edge. The opening chapters are feral in the best way. No slow burn. No gentle easing into the madness. Just pure, chaotic energy that lets you know immediately you are not in safe hands.

Sebastian York was the perfect choice to narrate Killian. He captures that razor-thin line between charm and psychosis flawlessly, bringing Killian’s beautifully deranged personality to life in a way that’s almost unsettling (in the best way).

This is a wild ride from start to finish, but those first few chapters? Absolutely unhinged. Definitely check your trigger warnings — seriously — but if you’re good with them, strap in for your first taste of the Legacy of Gods offspring. It’s dark, it’s intense, and it does not apologise.

Hooked right from the beginning

This book was amazing. Everything you want from a dark romance. Every book in this series was great, apart from the last one, which was goid, but defo my least favourite.

Absolutely loved this book

Everyone raves about this series so I had really high hopes. and while the story was relatively good if a bit uneventful I struggled to connect to the FMC, she really didn't have much to her personality wise. the MMC wasn't much better his only personality trait being that he didn't have one.

I liked the messy complicated wider friendship groups and world building (despite the issues mentioned below) there is definitely a solid foundation for this world and I just hope that the series improves from here because I feel like this first couple didn't do the series justice.

Also as a British person I really really struggled that a book set in Britain has absolutely zero idea of British language, ecology or culture, most of which could be solved with a quick Google. I mean fireflies in the UK?!? Every time the narrator said maafia I cringed. I laughed when half the students were in their '4th' year at uni (we only have 3 years in England) and lots.of other really basic mistakes that could have easily been avoided.

finally could romance authors (especially dark romance) please please stop writing unrealistic or anatomically impossible spice?!? why is it even necessary it doesn't make it hotter.

Really wanted to love it but...
