THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

The thrilling finale to the No. 1 Sunday Times bestselling fantasy, A Fate Inked in Blood.

With the secret of her divine heritage revealed, Freya finds herself on a path that could see thousands of lives lost to the magic in her blood.

Desperate to avoid this dark fate, she risks an alliance with Skaland's greatest enemy to seek answers from the seer who foretold her future - the same seer who sent Bjorn to kill her.

While Freya still seethes with rage over Bjorn's betrayal, the blood oaths that bind her demand that she keep him close as she hunts for a way to avert the looming war. Her magic draws her to the front lines of an old enmity, embroiling her with Nordeland's Unfated - children of the gods who serve the king she was raised to fear. The same king who, unlike Bjorn, is now willing to fight at her back. For despite the desire that burns hot between Bjorn and Freya, his growing distrust of her chosen path threatens to drag them further apart.

As war approaches, gods and mortals must choose their weapons. Yet the fiercest battle will be the one Freya wages within herself. With the magic of two goddesses burning in her veins, she must weave the threads of destiny to decide her own fate:

Will she be the shield that protects her people or the curse that destroys them?

I loved the 1st book, this one gave Bjorn his own narrator and that made it even better!
I got a bit annoyed with the self doubt/ hating Bjorn, but the story picked up and got all exciting and I forgot about how Freya hated Bjorn & Bjorn loves Freya, it was an undercurrent of the story, but the main story was exciting and terrifying & I thought it was brilliant. I know it's a duology and we don't need a third, but I would listen to it/ read it! 🤩

This book was the perfect conclusion to the duology. Everything you'd expect from a Norse mythology-inspired story is here-epic battles, gods and legends, fierce Vikings, myths brought to life, intense character relationships, and of course, the glory of Valhalla. Even as I'm writing this, I'm getting goosebumps.

I've always had a soft spot for mythology-especially Greek and Norse-and when I started the first book, I happened to be playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla. You can imagine how that boosted the vibe. XD

Back to the book: Danielle's writing style continues to impress me. The pacing was spot on for my taste, and once again, I found myself completely immersed in the story. I was so hooked I literally stood up just to keep myself awake so I could keep reading. No joke. xD

The characters were fantastic, and their arcs were just as strong. I especially loved how everything came together at the end-we got closure for each character's journey, no matter what their fate was. It was satisfying and emotional in all the right ways.

And let me just say: Bjorn and Freyja are now one of my all-time favorite couples. The fire between them was incredible. I mean, who doesn't love a badass warrior couple?

I can't recommend this duology enough!

P.S. The audiobook narration was also excellent. It's a dual POV story, so there are two narrators for the main characters-and the narrator for Freyja? Absolute chef's kiss.

Perfection!

Loves to have such a strong FMC and great characters, plot twists and developments. Lived the world building and everything that wrapped up in this book two. Another great book by this author.

Overall a really good story. Lots of twists and turns. It felt like a new and refreshing read. The only downside was some of the accents by the male narrator weren’t great and pulled me out of the story a bit. But on the whole this was a very enjoyable tale.

Really enjoyable listen
