Murder. Arson. Secrets. Justice is about to come home.

Big-city defense lawyer Dean Lincoln left his picturesque hometown of Beaufort years ago. But now, the lure of small-town life and a family matter have drawn him back.

Amidst the sultry heat and the Spanish moss, and beneath the facade of Southern small-town charm, Lincoln begins work again and is immediately thrown into two cases: a rich kid charged with murder and a poor kid accused of arson. Both swear they are innocent. Both feel the system is trying to crush them. And in this corner of the South, guilt is rarely decided in the courtroom…

Lincoln’s return has stirred a long-standing grudge, and it could cost him everything—his career, his clients, even his life. As the clock runs out on the truth, trouble is closing in fast.

An excellent start to what I hope will be a long series of legal thrillers. Excellent back story with very believable characters. Excellent narration too.

Dean has returned to his small hometown and finds himself in uncertain waters as he finds the law he loves so much works very differently in his small hometown. He creates waves, making himself, his colleagues and his family a target for corrupt and dangerous men who will do anything to keep their secrets buried. Dean has two very different cases, both of which are twisted, neither of which are what they seem but both have a young life and future hanging in the balance. And Dean is determined to find the truth, whilst also battling the small town corruption, will he ever be accepted in town? Or will he always be seen as a slick city lawyer? This is a great introduction to the series and I look forward to more of Dean's explosive cases, I listened to this on Audible with Kindle Unlimited.

Intriguing start to the Dean Lincoln series
