About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

NO GREATER FRIEND
Evan Smoak is the guy you want on your side. A former government black ops assassin, he'll be there for you in your darkest hour - and he'll rain hell and thunder on those who caused your pain.

NO WORSE ENEMY
A lone wolf operator, Evan can't afford to lose any of the few people he likes and trusts. But when Tommy Stojack, Evan's loyal, long-time gunsmith and armourer, betrays him, it's war.

Because a good assassin keeps his friends close, but his weapons closer . . .

Critic reviews

Laughs as well as action. A thriller that makes the Jack Reacher books look quaint
He is a weapon of mass entertainment and the action never stops
First-rate and deftly varied combat scenes. Rewardingly, it's more plugged into the mood and issues of the present than a Lee Child slugathon

I was looking for OrphanX. The ending was great but the rest was emotional drama that I could have done without

OrphanX has emotional crisis - didn’t need a whole book for this

Couldn't finish this. X has finally gone woke. Such a shame, it's been a brilliant series up until now.

This is probably the BEST Orphan X book ever!

The almost linear storyline, with Evan’s flashbacks and a superior entanglement of Evan’s and Tommy’s personas, makes it an almost unbeatable story.
Tommy is as
much a carrier of the story in this installment as Evan himself, which brings him so much to life as can be wished of f you ever wanted more of his backstory.

I must admit that I had trouble seeing how Gregg Hurwitz could keep the Orphan X series continue to develop in an interesting scenario after the last few books. But I am seriously put to the wall.

Dear Gregg Hurwitz, thank you thank you thank you. You keep developing the complexity of Evan and the series superbly, and I can hardly wait to see what you come up with in the next book.

A shoutout to Scott Brick for another unbeatable narration.

it doesn’t get any better, WOW!
