About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

You know your neighbours are plotting a crime but no one believes you . . .

Do you trust the couple next door?

When Lena overhears a conversation between her next-door-neighbours she thinks she must have misheard. After all, the Morgans are a kind, retired couple who have moved to a suburban street in Bristol where nothing ever happens. But it sounded like they were planning a crime.

Her family and friends tell her that she’s made a mistake. Yet Lena can’t stop thinking about it. Because what if they are about to do something terrible? What if she can prevent it?

And what if, in doing so, it might help ease her conscience about her own dark past . . .

Usually love this author but found this a drag. Just a bit boring, not much actual story just a lot of waffle

Not as good as others

I love Claire Douglas' books and this one did not disappoint. I was hooked from the beginning of the audio book right through to the end. A story full of twists and turns that kept me guessing and the narration was spot on too. I would highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this audio book. The narrators were great.
The plot was excellent evolving into a gripping mystery. The characters were believable and after my initial puzzlement at why someone would, so quickly, become obsessed with a new neighbour, I embraced their intrigue around the mysterious new neighbour and really enjoyed the story.

Fantastic

I thought this book was very slow to start and I almost stopped listening. However, 1/3 of the way in I started to get into it and was hooked from there. The story was good and the narration style (past and present) was effective at developing the plot. The narrators were easy to listen to and their voices suited the characters. There were a few obvious and predictable storylines but also a couple of red herrings along the way. I really enjoy this author and will read all her books!
