About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The #1 Sunday Times bestselling author, whose books so many love, brings us a fresh, contemporary story of a woman and her unruly blended family
Welcome to the Kennedy household:

Lila wrote a bestseller about keeping your marriage alive, before discovering her ex was playing happy families with another woman. A woman she sees everyday at school pick-up.

Bill, her stepdad, moved in after Lila’s mum died. He’s kind, old-fashioned and driving her absolutely nuts.

Celie, Lila’s eldest, hates school. Hates it so much she’s stopped going. Her mother’s fine with that – because she doesn’t know yet.

Violet is nine and sings age-inappropriate rap songs, laughs at fart jokes and Lila dearly hopes she’ll never, ever change.

And Truant the dog, who has just bitten the American actor who’s suddenly landed on the Kennedys' doorstep.

This is Gene – Lila’s estranged father, and no one’s idea of a role model. He walked out on Lila and her mum years ago – and wherever he goes domestic discord follows.

Because Gene’s presence changes things in unexpected ways. Soon the girls discover a kindred spirit in a man always chasing life’s joy. Bill even loosens up. And Lila finds herself, astonishingly, dating.

Something is happening to the Kennedy household – but what is it?
And will it break, or save, their family?

Critic reviews

She has been an inspiration to me for my whole career (Fredrik Backman)
Jojo Moyes is as wise, funny and glorious as ever with We All Live Here. She never ever disappoints (Lisa Jewell)
The best book she has ever written . . . mature, compassionate, wise (Marian Keyes)
Her best novel yet. Jojo never disappoints
Wise words and funny set pieces. Moyes knows how to present modern women's dilemmas with a humorous no-nonsense directness
Funny, emotionally messy and entirely relatable, this is Moyes at her wisest and most wonderful best.
Laugh-out-loud funny
No one writes women of a certain age better than Jojo Moyes - reminding us that we matter, even when the world tries to make us invisible. It takes a master of the craft to catalogue the messy vicissitudes of life in a way that both haunts and validates the reader’s own experiences, and her latest novel proves that there is no time like the present to rewrite one’s own story (Jodi Picoult)
Moyes is one of the best authors , her latest book is outstanding
Jojo does it again, tackling big themes with a lightness of touch

I absolutely loved listening to this! Lots of relatable moments (oh my goodness how many bread crumbers did I meet in my 20s / early 30s before finding my good one! When my girls are old enough I’ll get them to read it!).
Jenna Coleman is PERFECT as usual.
Sad it’s over and I don’t have them hanging out with me now.
It’s a very easy listen and great to have if you’ve just listened to something heavy going. I often like to have a couple on the go. Something more complex and heavy and then a light hearted antidote on the side!

Gorgeous uplifting, makes you smile, easy listen

Highly recommend. Loved it. Great characters and storytelling. Brilliant performance. Hard to believe all the voices were one woman. Another JoJo Moyes success. Thank you.

Don't often leave reviews but this book was an absolutely delightful read. Realistic, engaging and on occasions laugh out loud funny. I was fully invested in each character and delighted with the storyline and conclusion. I'll definitely read more from the author.
