About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

‘Life will sometimes seem long and tough. And you will sometimes be happy and sometimes sad. And then you’ll be old. And then you’ll be dead. There is only one sensible thing to do with this empty existence, and that is: fill it.’

A book for the science-loving reality-romantic in all of us, You Don’t Have to Have a Dream offers Tim Minchin’s inimitable thoughts and advice on life, art, success, kindness, love, and thriving in a meaningless universe. Drawn from three of his iconic commencement addresses, it’s a rallying cry for creativity, critical thinking, and compassion in our daily lives.

It’s never too late to put something beautiful out into the world.

so inspiring to hear Tim's unique and beautiful writing style of his valuable ideas in this gorgeous audiobook. I have the physical copy of the book too but to hear Tim's silky comforting voice narrating it was something special after having loved his music and his work since way back when in 2009... I will delve into this often for some clarity and self soothing advice for my solo musical project cassia later. thanks tim xx

I hoped this would be a longer delve into Tim's ideology and more practical advice but it's not long enough!

a nice jaunt but short

I liked the humour, honesty and life advice. Slight downside is that the 'book' is very short.

Enjoyable read down to author's world view, humour and authenticity

The writer reading his own book is great, but the enthusiasm he had when he gave the speeches was greater than him purely reading them. But a nice collection and insight into them through the intros.
