Find Your Passion. Love Your Work. Build a Richer Life.
What's your dream? It's a simple question, but one which very few of us ever really think about.
From early on, we are taught that there's only one path to getting ahead: do well at school, get a certain kind of job, and avoid failure at all costs. We're so busy trying to follow these rules that we never stop and ask ourselves: What's my purpose? What do I really want? Do I have the power to make it happen?
Simon Squibb is on a mission to change people's lives for the better. Here, he shares the hard-won life lessons from his years in the business world plus his own personal life, from facing homelessness as a teenager to selling a multi-million pound business, and now inspiring a new generation of budding entrepreneurs. Simon will empower readers to identify their own meaningful goals, to remove the barriers that stand in the way, and ultimately to build a richer life. Sometimes, it just takes one person to believe in you...
'Simon loves dreams and he wants you to live yours. This book will stop you from giving up on your goals and start building the life you want'

'The book I recommend if you want to start or grow a business' Ali Abdaal, productivity expert and bestselling author of Feel-Good Productivity
‘Inspiring stuff…Simon empowers you to follow your dreams without fear’

He reminds me of a Peter Kay for business. I'll explain - Peter Kay's genius is observational comedy and bringing it to life. I think Simon Squibb has done the same for business. He's simplified it, taken out the scary bits, and pointed out the obvious, with a bit of energy and humour.
The book is well structured and paced. It's split into 3 parts - Why dream? Your dream. Follow that dream. There are 13 chapters across the 3 parts and they all deserve to be in the book. Some business books pad out or throw in additional subjects that detract from the core message. Not here.
I like the way he describes a dream and encourages people to connect to their dream.
What's your dream? should be an exam question that's repeated at various stages of school. At the moment, school kills dreams to mould children into a system that steals dreams and wants conformity.
Too many people are scared to dream, as they believe that's the privilege of the lucky few and many don't feel deserving either. I believe he's reminding people to connect back to their dream, it's unique and personal and should drive them. They'll need to hear that message time and time again.
Simon shares many personal stories about his highs and lows, successes and failures. No business runs in a straight line, but he doesn't advise 4am starts to power through. He's actually quiet refreshing and you can see why he's having an impact across social media. He's not a guru, but he is someone who is passionate about helping people to realise their dreams by boot strapping and being sensible. His advice is tried and tested and common sense.
There are over 5.5m small businesses in the UK. Hopefully, this book will swell those ranks and also increase the opportunity for those starting to sustain themselves with his practical wisdom and tips.
He's also not selling you on the next course (not that there's anything wrong with that) so it comes across a bit more genuine. He's donating the profits of the book as well.
My advice buy it, read or listen to it, then buy a few copies and share them. It's worth it. It will help people get off the fence quicker, invest in themselves without taking massive loans, and get them started on their journey to achieve their dream.

For the past six years, I’ve been fighting to break through a niche market worth millions globally but slowly losing its appreciation for the handcrafted process. I get up at 2 a.m. to get to my workshop, ready to start my passion. By 7 a.m., I’m at my second job, and by 5:30 p.m., I’m finally heading home to my family. The boards don’t pay the bills yet, but I’m too in love with shaping to let it go.
At 40, as a father, my dream isn’t just to be a recognised shaper—it’s to build something my son will one day be proud to share with his friends. Your book has reignited that fire in me to keep going. Thank you for such an inspiring read.
