About this listen

'By page 3 I was hooked. By the end I was addicted' Owen Mullen

They keep each other’s secrets. They hide each other’s lies.

They were destined to be best friends. The four girls – all born that same hot summer. There was even a newspaper article after they were born. They said there must be something in the water on Larkspur Close. They predicted a safe and happy life for them all…

More than thirty years later, it’s more than an unbreakable friendship – it’s more like a sisterhood. It’s the girls who Jess reaches out to because she’s worried about her grandparents who’ve raised her since her mother disappeared, who Erin tells about her new business idea, who Melissa calls to say she’s desperate to escape her toxic job.

But then Chantelle messages saying she’s discovered her husband is having an affair. And everything changes.

Because then her husband is found dead… And only a few people knew about his secret.

Is it just a terrible accident? Or will someone stop at nothing to keep the girls of Larkspur Close safe and happy?

Good read

Very easy to listen to. Everyone loves each other, very cutesy and unbelievable but enjoyed it enough. Doesn’t take too much brain power!

Cheesiest ‘crime’ book ever

As a Sheffield girl who has lived and worked in Criccieth for many years, I found the accents irritatingly poor. No-one sounds like this in Sheffield and I wish narrators would research properly when needing a Welsh accent. She gives everyone a South Wales accent, (acceptable for Sian, as she is from Cardiff). I can assure you any Welsh people in Criccieth have a NORTH Wales accent which is totally different. Heddlu (police), is pronounced with a th as in them, not as in thing.
This was so infuriating, it spoiled the book for me. I wish I had read it rather than listened.
Otherwise an easy, cosy yarn.

Dreadful Narration!

A boring story about a bunch of boring infantile women supposedly in their 30s who drink milk and don’t like swearing. I couldn’t tell them all apart or remember their names. Nothing much happens. Story meanders but has no arc. The blurb is very misleading. I will be returning.

Story goes nowhere, characters are annoying

Really thin storyline, predictable ending, full of cliche. Disappointed as I had enjoyed other titles by the author.

Awful!
