About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

FAMILY COMES FIRST. NO MATTER THE COST.

Brothers Carl and Roy Opgard have succeeded in life. Or at least they’ve had as much success as is possible in a small town like Os, where they've killed their way to the top. Carl manages the swanky spa hotel, while Roy has made ambitious plans for an amusement park.

Life’s good at the top. But the local sheriff is looking to bring them down.

Sheriff Kurt Olsen believes he has new evidence that will prove the brothers’ involvement in several past murders – but Carl and Roy are used to covering their tracks, and they're not afraid to get their hands dirty.

The body count in Os is about to get even higher.

Blood Ties is an explosive suspense novel about family, loyalty, and the lengths someone is willing to go to for both, from crime writing's king of the cliffhanger.

I could keep track of the story or the point of it all. I don’t even know who lived or died was saved or murdered or tried or succeeded in commuting suicide!

Sean Barratt’s voice saves the listening experience but it didn’t save the story … for me.

It cannot be suggested that there isn’t enough content in Jo Nesbo’s story. There is loads of content including deep emotion, exploration of familial relationships and so on. Perhaps the most intriguing is the self justifying mind of a serial killer. It is all very human as ultimately, nothing is simple.

For me, there were just too many plates to spin and balls to juggle all at the same time, I lost track and the floor is littered with debris.

Perhaps it would be better if I listened to it again, but I don’t think I will.

I could keep track of the story

Jo Nesbo becomes more skilled and inventive with every effort. A brilliant performance as always and an engrossing new subject in the Kingdom series making one understand and identify with the multiple murderer. Highly recommended

Excellent Book and performance

Genuinely nothing to dislike, so to write fifteen words on it is tricky. How's that? Ok?

Excellent narration as always, and the slow burn twists and turns of this sequel are possibly even better than the first book.

Great book, but make sure you listen to The Kingdom first as it sets up this book.

Warning this is the second book in the series

Dark yet humorous, classic Nesbo. Flawed but sympathetic main characters, and a ripping story, sad to finish it. The only niggle was the audibility of the narration, Sean Barrett's gravelly delivery was very quiet.

Cracking sequel to The Kingdom
