Actor, singer... necromancer?

All the world's a stage... even when you're teleported to a new world. Struggling actress Cara O'Sullivan was walking down the street of Galway one moment, and the next, she was in an ancient tomb in a faraway world. Alone in the dark with her cell phone as her last tenuous connection to home, Cara sings her favorite song. To her astonishment, her song casts a spell of light into the world... and from the depths, something hears her. Challenged by a ghostly knight, a tragic necromancer, and hordes of undead, can a young woman who does not believe in heroes become one herself?

Look, you probably aren't coming to this book without having read or listened to 10 million+ words of the Wandering Inn series, so you should be pretty familiar with Pirateaba's writing style. You're going to get a main character who is reluctant to embrace her powers, then she does, and she's awesome. People will be FAR too forgiving of serious lapses of judgement, but overall you'll feel uplifted and hopeful in the end. It's fun. However, what really sets this apart is the performance. I have over 300 audio books in my library, and there is nothing even remotely comparable. The fact that Pirateaba could get the rights to the songs that she put in the book, and could find someone who could perform them so well is staggering. A truly impressive audiobook.

Unique performance, not so unique story

Loved the overall story though the main character has some annoying traits. This was a great introduction to this part of the world and looking forward to the next book. Andrea was awesome as ever and did a great job with the songs

Fantastic Wandering Inn Spin Off

I wasn’t sure if this would be set in the same world as The Wandering Inn but it very much is and is quite the story brought from another character. I’m guessing it’ll all tie in together one day soon

Love it

I saw this advertised at the end of the latest wandering inn book so I gave it a go. It's set in the same world with plenty of Easter eggs for Wandering Inn fans but stands on its own just as well. I do feel like it could have been worked into the wandering inn but there's so much going on there that starting a new book with a new MC was the right choice. I did start to worry about it getting too musical for my tastes but the songs worked in with the story and never went on too long.
A must read for any Wandering Inn fan. If you enjoy this and haven't tried The Wandering Inn it then get ready for many hours of amazing storytelling there too.
