This was a lovely contained story of trust, love and found family. The Polish setting and mythology create a rich background and world for the story to play out. As someone that adored both versions of Howl's Moving Castle as a teen this felt similar in some respects and I loved it for that. The characters are fully realised and distinct, even if the leads are dramatic at times, they seem real and perfect for a YA novel. I hope the narrator reads more books as this was a solid performance and I enjoyed each character's voice. Furthermore, I can't wait for whatever this author writes next.

I loved this. As a fantasy fan, I loved that this was so different to other fantasy stories. I'd love to know what happens next. A sequel perhaps?! Please.

This was a 5 star read for me until the final chapters. The end had a note of satisfaction and still enjoyed the book, but the direction at the very end took the edge off what is otherwise a fabulous slavic folklore x beauty and the beast retelling.
