About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The intimate and uplifting memoir from one of Britain's most loved singers - this is Alfie, off stage.

Bringing his characteristic sense of cheeky humour to the page, in this heartfelt book Alfie describes for the first time the highs and lows of over a decade singing and performing across the world. From personal dinners with Queen Elizabeth II and following in the steps of King of Rock 'n' Roll Elvis in Vegas to mischievous antics with Michael Ball, Alfie's book takes us backstage to witness his brilliant career memories.

But this book is also a heartfelt insight to Alfie's unmasked truth for the first time ever. His unflinching honesty reveals not only the success stories, but also the pressures and how, through challenging times, he learned more about himself than he ever thought possible.

Laying bare the events that have shaped Alfie into the performer he is today, Face the Music demonstrates to us all that it's not our mistakes that define us - but instead, how we choose to come back from them.

It did me, it will be OKAY

From the heart

The book Alfie Boe has written is from the heart. lt is sad to hear the trauma he has gone through but pleasing that he has come out the other side albeit not unscathed.
If you're looking for a lighthearted book, this is not the one for uou. it is honest, sad, in some parts down right depressing but truthful and if you are a big fan like me, then you will hopefully see how through his must and performances on stage, his heart, soul and feelings are brought into his act.
I wish him well in moving through his life ahead, it makes you realise that behind all the lights, theatre and music these artist and performers are human beings who hurt, struggle and need our support and love just the same as the guy who is crossing over in the street does.

Very good and it made me think about myself and how I cope with my future due to my MS from a young age.

Alfie reading his own words gave it a real poignancy especially the chapters about his marriage breakdown and period in rehabilitation. Nobody really knows what happens behind closed doors, Despite the front of a perfect, happy and successful life and career, Alfie shows how it can happen to anyone. There are many positives in the book also, including the joy and pride in his voice when he talks about his children. I hope he continues to be successful in his career and more importantly happy in his personal life

A sad but refreshing read.
