About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The culture of any home is determined by the parents. If you can remain unflappably calm in the face of every supermarket tantrum and sarcastic eye-roll, order will soon follow.

Here, bestselling author Paul Dix reveals how to turn even the most chaotic home into an oasis of calm – by focusing not on your children’s behaviour, but on your own. You will never need to raise your voice again.

Paul Dix's "When the Parents Change, Everything Changes" isn't marketed as a gentle/respectful parenting book, but I think it perfectly summarises the main ideas behind the philosophy of raising children with respect and kindness without losing sight of your own needs.
I most appreciated how practical the book is and how much the author focuses on providing solutions for real-life situations and issues parents face daily.
Overall, "When the Parents Change, Everything Changes" is an extremely practical and down-to-earth book full of ideas and suggestions for real-life scenarios and the usual challenges of parenting. Thank you, Paul.

This book is a game changer for parents. Paul Dix offers clear, practical steps and simple scripts for handling behaviour without overwhelming you with complicated psychology. It is realistic, encouraging and easy to put into practice.

I read it on the recommendation of a teacher and football coach, who I am often in awe of his skills handling the children. It has already made a positive difference at home. Dix reminds us to take things one step at a time so we do not expect too much too soon.

I am feeling more confident as a parent, I can see the benefits already, and I know they will keep growing. Highly recommended.

Well structured with plenty of practical tips, backed up by experience and underpinned by a relational approach. I’m a teacher and listened because I’ve enjoyed Paul’s other work. My children are now in their 20s but I know that these approaches worked for them.

A practical guide, based on experience and a relational approach.

I have actually laughed out loud several times listening to this book. Paul’s delivery along with his story telling , repetition of key points and humour meant that I was fully engaged. After reading quite a few parenting books, not many I find have given such straightforward advice. Paul gives a step by step breakdown of how to see change in yourself and following this, a change in your children. I will definitely be reading this again….and probably again. Not only was it incredibly helpful and what I have been searching for, but Paul made it an entertaining read.

A book with real, tangible advice
