About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Hey, I'm Jamie, a 29-year-old trans guy from the UK. I've been transitioning for 12 years now after realising I was trans (by accident!) at sixteen years old. I knew I was a boy since the age of four, but realised whilst growing up that I was different. It was only in my teens that I found the words to express who I was and what I needed to do. Since then, I've been on testosterone for more than a decade - I know, I can't believe it either - I've also had top and bottom surgery and legally changed my sex, so I know a few things about the transitioning process and being trans!

I want to welcome you to The T in LGBT where you can explore and learn about so many topics surrounding gender identity: realising you're trans, starting hormones, considering surgery, and everything in between. Whether you're questioning your own identity and are looking for advice on certain stages of transition, or whether you're wanting to learn about the trans experience to support someone or understand allyship, I hope this book can be your one-stop guide to everything trans related.

And don't just take my word for it either - this book is packed full of advice, tips, and the personal stories of a range of trans voices, because no one journey is the same.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

I love how casual but educational this book is this is helped me in my partner have difficult conversations on how best I can support them because we don't always communicate in the same language when it comes to being trans and what he needs for me so having this book he was able to explain what he's been asking about how I feel about things and why he's asking how I feel about things and I absolutely love it I know feel I can be the best ally to my partner because I understand things in a deeper concept and I think everyone should read this book thank you so much for writing it and thank you so so much for being such an amazing human being as well as your wife just thank you

this was amazing

This covers lots of different aspects of the t+ experience, and includes helpful sections read by Jamie's lovely wife Shaaba for allies supporting loved ones through their transitions, along with tips for people who have little experience with trans people and aren't sure how to talk about it or react when they slip up, for instance. Having been close to a fair few trans people, there were still nuggets of information that I wasn't previously aware of, and hearing all of the information from the perspectives of trans people at once has been invaluable in understanding the range of experiences, and had I not spent lots of time with trans friends and unfortunately seen some of the hard choices, waiting lists and microaggressions they face, this book would be super important in learning about those, too. I can only speculate that this book would be useful for "baby trans" people, and cis people who don't know much about the topic, but I know it was useful for me!

Useful for allies!

Thankyou Jamie for a beautifully candid and informative journey. It was touching to see the inclusive language and special chapter covering my experiences as a non-binary person. Thankyou Jamie (and Shaaba!), from a longtime subscriber of both of you!

So good I consumed in one sitting!

I bought the hard copy as well. Jamie's narration was so fun. He made me laugh so much I wish I could be his friend. 😊 The story line was easy to follow with lots of details. as a trans non-binary person I really appreciate his inclusion of NBs. I will be using this book to help people in my life better understand me.

so entertaining!!
