They’re on the run for their lives. When Commander Kevin Hoyt returns from a scouting mission, he finds that he is wanted for treason. Despite his innocence, Hoyt flees with his family, trying to escape the inevitable. With the odds stacked against him, and the Consulate closing in, he is forced to seek refuge on an alien world. Meanwhile, his pursuer and old friend, Will Dickson, suspects that the reports of treason aren’t factual. When he breaks protocol to negotiate Hoyt’s surrender without waiting for backup, all hell breaks loose. And it’s a decision that may prove deadly on both sides. Traitor is the first book in an action-packed space opera series that is an intense blend of Star Trek and Farscape.©2020 Drew Alexander Avera (P)2026 Drew Alexander Avera Action & Adventure Fiction Military Science Fiction Space Opera

I got this book for free, so I figured I’d leave a review.

The story is interesting, focusing on family ties with a sci-fi twist. The relationships between the father, mother, and two daughters are brought to life as they become caught up in the dangers of the father’s past due to illegal orders.

However, I found this book quite difficult to listen to because of the narrator. I had to stop listening after an hour or two and switch to another book. I was happy to see that the series was taken over by another narrator in the next book, as I really enjoyed the story itself.

Overall, I’m giving this 3 stars. I really enjoyed the story, but it’s a shame about the narrator, as they made this particular book difficult for me to listen to.

shame about the narrator

First of a Science Fiction series by the author Drew Avera that I’m listening to and I don’t regret it not even for a moment.
Excellent penmanship style with an amazing imagination which includes spaceships, conspiracies, betrayals and beautiful twists.
Served in the military myself, I understand illegal orders and the obligation to refuse no matter who ordered them.
What an amazing journey the author is taking us in this new audio series.

Beautiful narration by Steve Barnes for each of the characters in this creation.
