Such a sweet and delightful read. The characters are lovely, especially brave little Daisy who is putting up with such extreme circumstances in her life from the boarding school, to the situation with her mother, to the discovery of Mallowmarsh and magic.

Lovely Children's book

Downloaded to brighten a long journey, we were all bereft when it ended. The plot is compelling, the language richly evocative. We will be hunting down other Pari Thomson titles.

So vivid you can almost smell the foliage.

A decent story but it took a while for me to connect with The main character. The plant magic is interesting but feels a little limited compared with other stories where plant magic is just one aspect of The whole magical world. And there was some very predictable plot beats that I’ve seen before in a bunch of other stories. But if you’re a child and it’s the first time you’re reading a story like this I think it would be pretty good for them. So yeah a decent adventure book but nothing really stand out.

Good if a little cliched at times
