I love Brian Jacque's command of language, the gripping storyline and the satisfactory sense of good overcoming evil.

listening delight

The story here is varied the villain is smart and the writing is good. The hero is stalwart and unyielding, the supporting character are also good and fun, enough danger to keep it feeling real and you hope the heroes will win through. I love the Badgers in this story in Redwall in general. Some fun easter eggs for the later books.

Not at all like Book 1. This one had lots of fighting and killing and nasty animals. One of the main heroes is a thief. I suppose I’m being a bit uptight, but not the kind of thing I’d want a child of mine to read…
