About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

One house. Nine guests. Endless motives for murder...

In the seaside town of Hamlet Wick, nine guests assemble for a New Year's Eve party to remember.

The owner of Hamlet Hall has organised a murder mystery evening with a 1920s twist, and everyone has their own part to play.

But the game has barely begun when one guest is found dead—killed by a fatal injury to the head.

With no phone signal and no way out of the house, the others are trapped with a killer in their midst.

Someone is playing by their own rules. And in a close-knit community, old rivalries run deep...

I really enjoyed the style of the writing and narration of this story. It has all the makings of a really classic Whodunnit.
I was able to figure it out fairly early on but I was still completely captivated to the end. This story is less about the police officer and more about the characters and their relationships which I really enjoyed.
The only sad point for me is that after enjoying this story so much I was keen to hear more from this author but the reviews for 'A Fatal Crossing' all say the narrator chosen for that story ruins it. So hopefully I shall have to find time in the future to read that one for myself.

Enjoyable Murder Story with a Classic Feel

The plot was good and the characters linked well. I found some of the subplot a little tiresome. The situation between Sylvia and Jack I felt was stretching it.
I knew who the murderer was and the reason for the first murder almost as soon as it occurred.
Disappointing really.

Entertaining but a little predictable.

The story begins to take shape eventually and is worth the wait. Very enjoyable listen.

This is a good story but very plot driven - the characters are not well developed so you care more about the solution than any of them. But a good classic murder

A good locked room whodunnit
