A SEVERED HEAD ON A STAKE, A BODY IN THE LAKE

WISTING: NOW A MAJOR BBC 4 TV SHOW

WILLIAM WISTING IS IN A RACE AGAINST TIME

When a severed head is found on a stake in the quiet town of Larvik, Police Inspector William Wisting is called in to investigate. The only clue? The killer is trying to send a message.

ALL ROADS LEAD BACK TO THE NIGHT MAN

As the media closes in on the biggest story of the year, Wisting's journalist daughter Line receives a tip. Soon, it becomes clear that there is more to this case than anyone thought. A criminal network has lodged itself deep into the roots of the city, and it's up to Wisting to take down the elusive and dangerous Night Man.

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING

But hunting down The Night Man will take everything Wisting has, and it's all too easy for the hunter to become the prey...

Critic reviews

It's fascinating to see Horst flesh out his protagonist Wisting at an early stage in his career . . . Nor is it hard to see why the series quickly became so popular
Praise for Jørn Lier Horst
Tense, fast-paced . . . compelling
Relentlessly exciting . . . creates a sense of real menace
Jørn Lier Horst writes some of the best Scandinavian crime fiction available. His books are superbly plotted and addictive, the characters wonderfully realised
One of the very best novels that [Lier Horst] has ever written . . . Thrilling. Jørn Lier Horst elevates his and Wisting's universe to a whole other level
Atmospheric. Demonstrates why he has become so popular . . . A powerful portrait of a barbaric criminal underworld that exploits society's most vulnerable

shockingly it is an eye opener to the international drug scene and to the horrifying extent that children are regarded as expendible

beautiful narration

Saul Reichlin narrating was superb as usual. Not his best novel. My issue was that it had been on tv prior to release of the book with different story lines which I found confusing!

Not his best novel

Great pace and realism. A relevant topic treated with insight, force and honesty while remaining faithful to the Wisting characters and background plots. Thoroughly enjoyed this and looking for the next in the series right now.

Another blistering Wisting!

Typical worthwhile Wisting winding story, well defined characters and narrator Saul Reichlin is the Master.
