A truly beautiful and haunting story that creates a believable parable. The narration was underwhelming - particularly when they tried to perform different accents and women's voices.

This is one of those books that you miss like a loved one when you finish it. A tale with several strands that was very well read.

Especially near the start, the narrator's style is quite emotionally flat. Characters' voices blend together at times too. I got through it enough to enjoy the story, but be aware you might not get along with the style of performance.

Loved the story, a bit long in places, but the narrators of both families, and the characterizations are deeply intriguing. The narrator starts off very monotone, but gets better, unfortunately the Irish accent and attempts at female voices are very jarring. Epic story, nonetheless, that everyone should read.
