THE NEXT GRIPPING, EMOTIONAL AND TWISTY PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER FROM LIA MIDDLETON, AUTHOR OF WHEN THEY FIND HER

When fifteen-year-old Anabelle King was assaulted on her way home, she thought she had done everything right. But a vital piece of evidence meant that the jury let her attacker go.

Eighteen years later, Anabelle King is now Ava Knight, a successful barrister who always follows the rules. But that all changes when, one day at court, she reads a familiar name in the file: Michael Osborne. But this time he is the victim of an attack, and in the dock is a young girl: Lily Hawthorne, who pleads guilty without hesitation.

Ava is sure that Lily's plea is not the truth. She knows this man is not innocent. But as she gets more entangled in the case, how much will she have to risk to uncover the truth?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, the narrators were both brilliant and brought the characters to life. I was hooked from the beginning.

One of the best books I’ve listened to this year. Can’t wait for the next one, a prequel to this one would be a good idea too.

Loved it

Ava King, a prosecution barrister, has put her past trauma behind her, until the day when a familiar name pops up, Michael Osbourne!
The story unfolds as Ava fights to seek justice for a young girl in the care system. Knowing there is more to her story than she is admitting to. Can the barrister turn detective and finally discover the truth?

A great read.

Outstanding.

Your Word or Mine completely gripped me. The pacing, tension and moral complexity were brilliantly handled, and Fiona Button’s narration elevated it even further. She brought real depth and nuance to Ava - it felt lived rather than performed.

I found myself fiercely on Ava’s side. The themes of standing up to bullying, flawed systems and the personal cost of fighting for someone else really resonated with me. I was rooting for her the whole way through.

A powerful listen. I’ll be searching for more from Lia Middleton - especially if Fiona Button is narrating again.

Thank you Lia and Fiona
