About this listen

Audible Studios presents a brand new recording of Charles Dickens' timeless seasonal story A Christmas Carol, performed by Hugh Grant.

First published in 1843, it tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean and unpleasant man who dislikes people generally and Christmas especially.

One Christmas Eve he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come and given a glimpse of the many homes and lives which Scrooge has touched in his wretched life to date. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.

i think I have all of the "Christmas Carol"s from Audible, and enjoy them immensely. This, however, is the best. It is perfect. It's Charles Dickens as Charles Dickens would have read it, I'm sure.

I would now like Audible to engage Hugh Grant to read the rest of the Dickens canon. Seriously.

Just delightful. Perfect.

Thank you Audible for this wonderful gift! I enjoyed it immensely. It reminded me of the one I read as a child in the days before technology. I loved it then and I still do. I thought Hugh did a great job and it felt just like he was telling me a story, which he was really! Awesome!

A wonderful present!

A very enjoyable listen, top quality narration and production. My first time reading the book despite having seen all the various adaptations.

It is a book that is always very closely adapted to the films. Shorter in length than I realised but it's not worse off for that.
