I am already hooked on this series after listening to book one, Ice but now I am even more so and as soon as I have finished this review I am off to start the next book.
The story starts with an explosive beginning, that sets everything you thought you knew from the first book spinning and doesn't let up.until the very end and what an end of is. This is another book that contains so many twists and so much happens that it will be hard not to give anything away but still explain why I enjoyed it so much.
So let's start with the characters. There's not much I can say other than I loved every single one and there is far too many to pick a favourite, even from the animals. I am normally all about the mystery but not with this author. She creates characters that are so are entertaining that it doesn't matter if they are taking down bad guys, attending a book club meeting or at home, it's a delight spending time with them and definitely eventful. I also love the way the author combines her series, so if you are a fan you can't go far without bumping into somebody you know. In this book its the Faraday children and boy do they bring some magic to the story, well okay action.
As for the mystery. It literally had me on the edge of my seat with all the twists. I hope you like roller coasters. The story was well worked and followed a number of the characters as they went about doing there part to get to the bottom of a very personal case. I am off to start the next book.
A night out with his girlfriend, turns Chris's world upside down. A glimpse in the crowd, as him chasing his dead wife. The encounter has her leaving him behind, again and a dead hit man at his feet. Chris is soon swept up in the chaos he thought he left behind when he left the FBI, as he finds himself running from his own hit squad and the only way to keep his family safe is to find his dead wife. He turns to his book club for help and they quickly learn that some secrets shouldn't stay buried when politics, espionage and treachery are involved. Can they stay alive long enough to discover the truth?
I liked the narrator. A few characters voices has me chuckling when every they speak but he still does a good job of bringing them to life.
