Writer, poet, and broadcaster Pam Ayres has been making her fans smile for more than 30 years, since her first television appearance on Opportunity Knocks. Now some of her best sketches, verses and songs are brought together in this complete collection of series 1-6 of her Radio 4 show, Ayres on the Air .
Each series consists of 4 episodes, with Pam performing witty and wonderful pieces on subjects as diverse as getting older, shopping and a surfeit of beige, bored chickens and school plays. With each sketch, she delights and entertains in a way that is unique to this very special broadcaster.

Pam Ayres is pure heaven!
It started a bit 'Radio 4', twee and corny, but just got better and better. I wish there was a TV show with Pam, Gordon and Felicity.

No Hard Luck Stories Here
In this touching collection Pam Ayres explores all the trials and tribulations that make life magical. From her childhood in rural poverty to her career as a poet, her love of the land, her travels and her family, each subject is lovingly visited with some laughter along the way.

Undervalued national treasure
I was unaware of the radio programme series when originally broadcast but came across them later. Pam’s way of describing life and events in her inimitable way is so clever, managing to sum up all our emotions, experiences and hopes and dreams in verse. I’ve listened to the episodes multiple times and enjoy every one immensely.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Sketches mixed with her poetry. What a Gem. Harsh and hilarious view on real life from the other side of "yoof"
