Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Vanished by Tim Weaver, read by Joe Coen and Andrew Brooke.

He got on the train. He didn't get off. So where did he go?

For millions of Londoners, the morning of 17 December is just like any other. But not for Sam Wren. An hour after leaving home, he gets onto a tube train - and never gets off again. No eyewitnesses. No trace of him on security cameras. Six months later, he's still missing.

Out of options and desperate for answers, Sam's wife, Julia, hires David Raker to track him down. Raker has made a career out of finding the lost. He knows how they think. And, in missing person cases, the only certainty is that everyone has something to hide.

But in this case the secrets go deeper than anyone imagined.

For as Raker starts to suspect that even the police are lying to him, someone is watching. Someone who knows what happened on the tube that day. And with Raker in his sights, he'll do anything to keep Sam's secrets to himself....

"Weaver's books get better each time - tense, complex, written with flair as well as care." (Guardian)

Twists and turns

Very well knitted together and kept me guessing all the way til the end. Really enjoyed this story.

good plot, poor storytelling

Talented narrators and strong plot made this listenable. The writing however is banal and self indulgent.

10/10

Fantastic book. Very descriptive and easily followed. The narrators were also amazing, they used different accents so it was easy to follow the different characters. Fully enjoyable and I couldn’t stop listening until I finished.

Loved it mostly.

I really enjoyed the book. It was very well written and at times couldn’t put it down. Only one gripe, there is no such thing as under aged prostitutes. Children cannot consent to sex therefore the children mentioned in the book were probably trafficked and then they were raped!

Book itself great as always

Love Tim’s books and the story itself is wonderful but let down by the narrators dull voice. I’m sorry I don’t like to leave negative reviews but maybe the narrator could just be a little less monotone in future?! They’re good just I found it so dull it lulled me into wanting to nap and I listen to these books while working (my brain needs to have something else to focus on while doing things) so not a great listen for me. Had to stop halfway. Love the actual story tho.

painfully predictable

Don't even know why I bothered to finish this. Such cliched characters and irritatingly predictable. Sounds like a great premise but unfortunately no follow through.
