Critic reviews

"No one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades. The Alex Cross series proves it." (Lee Child, international best-selling author of the Jack Reacher series)

Slowly getting through all of the James Patterson books. This is a long one and I felt got a little weaker towards the end. Overall a tense read with an unexpectedly weaker finale.

I listen to audible books when I go walking and despite having the volume up full, I often struggle to hear the narration, especially when he whispers for dramatic effect. My volume is up full and I have partially sound proof headphones, but I have to hear some outside sound to be aware of traffic. I miss a lot and often have to rewind which takes something away from the story. Why not increase volume levels and allow me to reduce them?

Wish the volume levels were higher.

5 stars because it is entertaining and well read but it is the second of his Alex Cross books where I have been tempted to throw my phone out the window at the pure ludicrousness of the situations the characters get into. So many OH, FOR GOODNESS SAKE moments, but hey ho I’ve ordered the next one.

Fast paced and clever, James Patterson never disappoints. Has you routing for the good guy. A real page turner.

Excellent story

Great beginning story line gripped over the halfway then the end lacked edge of your seat finish

Was a good listen I like the narrator but not sure I will bother to continue with the series as they haven't gripped me enough. I like the Alex Cross character but honestly this book left me a little disappointed. personally I like the Poirot moments where he explains to everyone how he figured it all out what his thought process was. Alex couldnt do that in this because he didn't figure it out. Maybe that makes his character more realistic to some I don't know. If anyone asked I'd tell them to give the series a go as although they are not my personal favourites I have afew friends who love this series so as always it comes down to personal tastes.
