Summary

Shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award 2018

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Meet Me at the Museum by Anne Youngson, read by Helen Lloyd and Lars Knudsen.

Sometimes it takes a stranger to really know who you are.

When Tina Hopgood writes a letter of regret to a man she has never met, she doesn’t expect a reply.

When Anders Larsen, a lonely museum curator, answers it, nor does he.

They’re both searching for something, they just don’t know it yet.

Anders has lost his wife, along with his hopes and dreams for the future. Tina is trapped in a marriage she doesn’t remember choosing.

Slowly their correspondence blossoms as they bare their souls to each other with stories of joy, anguish and discovery. But then Tina’s letters suddenly cease, and Anders is thrown into despair.

Can their unexpected friendship survive?

Very enjoyable and interesting.

I was a bit uncertain about this novel for the first couple of chapters but then got into the rhythm of it. Ultimately I really enjoyed it.
Interesting characters and the episodes of their lives that were shared were easy to engage with.
I like the themes of the Tollund Man and the farm, weaving throughout the story and the theme of family and children.
Well done Anne, a very enjoyable read.

Su heartwarming

Such a quietly thoughtful story.
Started slowly but you really get into the heads of the two main characters and it truly makes you think about our lives and how we live them.
I couldnt stop listening and really wanted to know how this would end.
Which it sort of doesn't but is better that way

Wonderful

This is one of my favourite books and the one I’ve gifted most. It is a gem… to paraphrase a metaphor from the book, it is a raspberry hidden and then joyfully discovered.
Highly recommended.

Brilliant

I so enjoyed this book, excellent story and narration. The characters were so authentic. If only we could all meet someone who we could relate to and unravel ourselves to so completely in such a totally natural way.
I’m sure Tina and Anders ongoing story will be a very happy one.
